  1. So does that mean we can expect to see Pirates of the Sea of Tranquility in the next few years?
  2. Pfft, Trilogies kick franchises' arses any day of the week.
  3. So if I created 16 sock puppet accounts and had them all vote for Cannibal the Musical would that befrowned upon?
  4. I wonder if such people would try to return a DVD to the store because the film was bad too?The only time in the UK I've seen complaints and refunds over a film was Matrix 3, but that was because the sound cut out for 2 minutes half way through so I feel that was a justified complaint towards the cinema.(Although saying this, I only ever watched it that one time and for all I know it was some really experimental scene where everything in the matrix goes silent due to the will of Neo or something.)
  5. Thanks :)Clearly I am just an expert on list-making
  6. I'm thinking mostly about the iconic bond themes so I'm essentially voting Dr No.And yes I knew the exorcist was dodgy ground, but it is a film you remember for the music almost more than the film itself.
  7. okay done. POS FILM 1 INDIANA- RAIDERS 2 BACK TO THE FUTURE 3 BOND 4 ROCKY 5 INDEPENDENCE DAY 6 LION KING 7 CHARIOTS OF FIRE 8 JURASSIC PARK 9 GOOD, BAD, UGLY 10 ROBIN HOOD PRINCE OF THIEVES 11 ALIEN 12 STARGATE 13 GREAT ESCAPE 14 GONE WITH THE WIND 15 THE ITALIAN JOB 16 JAWS 17 BEAUTY AND THE BEAST 18 THE EXORCIST 19 SUCKER PUNCH 20 WALL-E 21 FORREST GUMP 22 SUPERMAN 23 THE OMEN 24 BATMAN 25 BEVERLY HILLS COP Reserve 1 BRAVEHEART Reserve 2 TOP GUN Reserve 3 GLADIATOR Included 3 reserves as I am doubtful about the eligibility of Exorcist and Omen (especially considering nobodyseems to have voted for them at all) and the third is incase there are yet more mistakes in there.
  8. Saw it once when it first came out and it was great lots of fun.Do not really want to see it again and find out I am wrong.
  9. This must be settinga record for dmestic market share in recent years also.
  10. If $1B is looking good and $1.1B is a step too far, how about the middle ground...Can it make top 10 of all time WW (at least for about a month) and beat OST?
  11. This seems like the perfect thread to verify from German speakers the validity of that wonderful bi of triva about how Arnie wanted to also do the German dubbing acting for Terminator but was refused because his accent in German sounded too much like a farmer ad not enough like a killing machine/.True or fun lie?
  12. Numbers - Nic Cage: Great first half but I hated the resolution of the film entirely. In an odd sort of way - anything by Ridley Scott watched the first time around. His films always seem to take 70% of the run length to go anywhere and then have a fantastic ending. It's only upon second viewings that I find myself liking the first half of his films.

  14. THis is now 2 different film song/music votes and I still cannot vote for Cruel Intentions (Which I feel has one of the best correlations of music to scene in any film I've seen. But sadly it was a soundtrack of previously existing songs and not either orginal songs or the score that made the film.Grrr...
  15. Where do you stand on the merging of scores from one film to the next eg: James Bond, can we vote for a franchise and just say James Bond? Or is it Dr No we are voting for in this situation? What about a situation like say MI where they have one memorable prexisting theme (that in all likelyhood would be the reason to vote for it, but the rest could be original)Finally where do you stand on things such as Titanic and Robin Hood POT where the score and the main song are kind of intertwined and thus people may be voting for Celine or Bryan but they called also be voting for the underlying theme that at a particular point happens to have lyrics.
  16. Off topic I know, but I look at that list and I wonder how insane this thread would have gone if it was around for Jurassic Park 43M when no other film before it had maed even half that figure. That would be like a film coming out in the US now and making 1.2 billion or something silly.
  17. I assume you know of the two Japanese films already made?Thought they were both pretty good.
  18. Their version of the Christmas Carol is criminally underrated interpretation in my opinion.(and I am talking in terms of films in general not just muppet films.
  19. But it's criticising the right things which is important. There are some films where a lack of plot or charactor developement is a plus not a minus. It's not saying that every silly comedy or explosion filled action film has to be acclaimed but a film should be judged on what its trying to achieve and upon the audience it is targeting.I am not opposed to a critic hating a trashy or shallow film, but criticising a deliberately shallow film for being shallow is like criticising the beatles for their lacking the style of classical music.
  20. Basically any fun film really. I can't imagine how pissed off I would have been if The Expendables had had an extra hour of heartfelt dialogue and back story to each character that revealed their inner torment and how all the fighting was really a metaphor for love or something.More specifically:Van Wilder: Party LiasonEurotripI felt both of these films had a lot of heart to them for what were films that I watched purely because I had no other option.Lost in TranslationBiggest pile of arse I'd watched in a long long time.
  21. If Shawshank was a bomb, that must be the winner surely.
  22. Aren't all those '___ Movie' films a franchise - Date Movie, Epic Movie, Just stab me in the eyes now Movie, etc
