Titanic | James Cameron | Pretend it's 1997 all over again (The pure awe of Titanic's run)

Recommended Posts

Well maybe we went back too far to start. Why dont we skip ahead to the opening week....

Good Opening Week Numbers even beating out Bond But totally frontloaded.

A 3 + hour won't get repeat business, it is losing a show daily...and won't make back its budget!

Bomb?????

Don't get me wrong, a $28.6m is a great opening, but for a movie with a $200m budget its a disaster.

Guys, too far.

You're missing all kinds of things....let's start the week of it's release.

I want to talk about what it was like standing in line, the build up to waiting, the unexpected lineups, the amazingfeeling you had watching the film.....all of this was part of the previous thread.

Guru is predicting about a 25 mill opening. That would be pretty good and if it gets a decent multiplier because of Christmas

well my friend call and she wants to see this movie on its first Sunday.  I am interested in the film as I did a report on the finding of the wreckage back in elementary school.  I read tons of books as did my friend so she is kind of giddy.  I am too partially, but with an over 3 hour runtime, I am sure the film has to drag at some point.

I am somewhat surprised at how many people around me seem hyped up for the film.  I guess Titanic has "fans" in a weird way, then again, I heard it was the 2nd most written about subject at one point only behind some guy named Jesus ;)

Can't wait to see if the $200 mil budget is noticeable on the screen

For this movie ta have a tiny tiny tiny  chance at winning some of its money back it would have to be :

1. A masterpiece of modern cinema, conjugating the classicism and grandeur of David Lean and the visual spectacle and dazzle thanks to the technology of tomorrow.

2. The love story would have to work, like you should feel for these characters. One of the two actors would have to become a supernova.

3. This movie would have to please 7 year old and 77 from both genders.

4. Having great reviews from critics.

5. 1,2,3,4 would have to happen in all the big movie markets in the world.

6. Making a lot of noise at the Oscars.

The chances of all of these things happening are basically null so, it s a bit sad that one of my all time favourite directors will suffer his first failure ...

So long Jim, you tried it !!!

Now, back to Spidey , Alien or Terminator please !

I have a good feeling about this movie. Actually a really good feeling. It's something that might appeal to people in the masses, being about love and all that shit, and disaster. It might just bring people together.I'm going really really big. A lot bigger than anything ever before. For now, and I could change:$600M DOM$1.2B OSI really hope I'm close on this one :S
