fishstick
But it has samurai! Bodes well for 47R.
Captain Craig
@BoxOffice: $4 million for THE WOLVERINE from Thursday evening shows. That's a strong start. #TheWolverineExactly what Cap did two years ago. Should be headed for a similar 60-65m OW. Solid!! Especially since it didn't have any 8pm Previews shows like a few films did this summer and those had weaker numbers for the extra showtimes. Captain Craig
I think W2 is going to be closer to $50m than $60m, anyone with me? And if it does do that, given it's [alleged]budget and the overall thoughts on Origins, that'll still be good.

CoolioD1
I actually learned what Ronin meant from watching the Wolverine! Ronin means a Robert DeNiro movie with a sweet-ass car chase. Everyone knows that.

Poseidon
What about Open Air Cinemas in the USA? Do you have them? We've got quite a lot of those and a movie like "Life of Pi" could easily make another $0,3m or more alone over here in Germany.

Poseidon
We have a few drive-in theaters still but they're few and far between. Well, maybe that's a cultural difference. Instead of going to the airconditoned movie theaters, we stay at home in the heat of the summer and go to a bear garden or have a barbecue at night. It's just amazing, how summer seems to have no impact on US-Box Office, while it can kill even Potter on opening weekend here. I'm quite jealous sometimes.

Yeah, people flock to the theaters just to get away from the heat, sometimes. And we don't really have any culture of outdoor-viewing, except for the (mostly gone) drive-ins and some specialty sunset summer shows in bigger cities (and those aren't current movies, usually).
