peludo
280 million today would be exactly the same than AUJ. It ended the second weekend with 280 million if we do not count Japan, where DOS will be released in 2014.

Elessar
We need at least $25m more OS for the billion to fall. So far it doesn't look like to happen. Maybe the Japanese decide to watch Hobbit this year...
fmpro
A tad under what was hoped for

Fake
Russian number is quite underestimated, so actuals will definitely increase.

Eh, it's mimicking AUJ almost to the letter, dunno why it should change next week.

Olive
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug raked in $96 million from 16,830 screens in 56 markets this weekend. The huge number accounts for 10.1 million admissions outside of North America as The Hobbit sequel dropped 43% from its opening weekend overseas. The overseas cume for the film currently stands at $276.3 million, on par with An Unexpected Journey at the same point in release. Smaug posted the biggest opening weekend of all time for a Warner Brothers release in Russia after taking $18.8 million from 2,115 screens. The strong first place finish represents a 73% marketshare among the top 5 films in Russia. Germany led the hold-overs with a $14.1 million performance from 1,460 screens to keep the top spot in the country. The second weekend result is merely a 26% drop from its opening weekend. Germany is currently responsible from $38.7 million of the film's global gross. The latest Hobbit film kept the top spot in the United Kingdom with an $8.5 million take from 1,405 screens. Fake
I think DOS will finish close to 900m WW excluding China & Japan. Those two markets can add 100m but they will need favorable release date and WOM.
peludo
Those numbers are a bit strange. Germany's case is quite curious. AUJ had a 17 million OW and then a 14 million 2nd weekend. Since the total after 2nd weekend was 43 million, it grossed 12 million in Monday-Thursday period. According data, DOS has grossed 38 million after an 19 million OW and a 14 million 2nd weekend. So it would be just 5 million from Monday-Thursday period. Considering that dates are extremely similar I see too much difference.

peludo
Actually it should be Monday-Wednesday, but yeah you are right. I always forget that weekends in Germany are Thursday-Sunday I do not know if there is a reason or if it has happened something during this week in Germany to understand this. Look at the 3rd weekend figure and the total after 3rd weekend.
