Jake Gittes
LOTR, Heavenly Creatures and Braindead are his best. Hobbit AUJ is the only mediocre movie of his I've seen, but that might be because I avoided The Lovely Bones altogether.

IndustriousAngel
no love for "Bad Taste" here? apart from the Tolkien adaptions, "Frighteners" is very nice and underrated, as is "Meet the Feebles" (ok I'm all for puppet animations so probably prejudiced here). King Kong was, of course, a vanity project and would have been wholly ridiculous if it weren't for Naomi Watts who saved the thing.

ddddeeee
Heavenly Creatures is in my top 10 films. Technical advances aside, I think Jackson was a much better director before LotR than after.
IndustriousAngel
I'm always astonished how few of you have "Frighteners" in their list - while certainly not a masterpiece, it's one of the most enjoyable horror comedies I've seen, I even like it a bit more than Ghostbusters. ddddeeee
Frighteners is a lot of fun but a bit of a mess. I like it's manic energy.
Jack Nevada
Meet the Feebles is pure garbage, tho. Peter Jackson has a very basic sense of humor that works in Braindead but totally flops in Feebles.
