Mojoguy
I feel bad for the Peter Pan movie that came out in 2003. It flopped so badly, and I remember it being decent. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=peterpan03.htm I have it on dvd, maybe I'll give it a rewatch since at least it isn't a stinking prequel. Claire of Themyscira
I saw a TV spot for this, and even my dad was like... KILL THIS WITH FIRE. Edited October 9, 2015 by Claire Nolan Holt
The Futurist
Warner is the last director centric studio in Hollywood, I applause them for trying Jupiter Ascending & Pan. Fortune favors the Bold. Sometimes.

Mojoguy
Could Pan have made a profit if its budget had been 80m instead of 150m? The person that greenlighted such a massive budget should be fired.
Jonwo
Could Pan have made a profit if its budget had been 80m instead of 150m? The person that greenlighted such a massive budget should be fired. It was greenlit by the previous regime at WB so I guess by the time the new regime came in, it was already in production so they couldn't do anything about it. dudalb
650 Million Thursday. Bombs Away! Even given that this is a film that was aimed at families (though I agree that some of the dark stuff in this film does not scream family film),and those generally have not very good Thursday nights, this was a not very good opening. Pan's gonna bomb, and bomb bigtime.

dudalb
Wow that huge! Jurassic World you're going down. I fell like an idiot. I meant, of course, 650 Thousand. And this is the second big bust in a row for Warners, coming after "Man From Uncle".

After "Man From Uncle" giving us "Boy From Neverland" probably wasn't a good idea.

Probably not if it opens with less than $20 million domestic and Goose Bumps comes out next week, followed soon by Peanuts.
dudalb
Disney must be having schandefrunde (joy at the misfortune of others because they had it coming) at Pan's flopping because the first really big action sequence is shamelessly swiped from The Mouse's animated sequel of a few years ago. The flying Pirate ship .on it's raid on London during World War 2, get mistaken for a Nazi bomber by the RAF,and is pursued by Anti Aircraft Fire and Spitfires.....
dudalb
24% at Rotten Tomatoes. Not quite a Fantastic Four level trainwreck, but still a big fail on every level for Warners.
dudalb
BOth Hollywood Reporter and Variety are headlining that Pan is bombing badly on Friday, and is looking at opening in the low 20's as a best case scenario, with not breaking 20 Million a real possibility. It's official, Pan is a painful bomb for Warners.

WrathOfHan
Probably shouldn't have moved it from July. It would have done worse facing Ant-Man and the second week of Minions.
Avatree
Really enjoyed this. Shame that it's bombing, it's a proper family adventure movie. Edited October 10, 2015 by 99 Trees
dudalb
<mod edit: language> Making Hook into an Ameican and an Indy Jones clone is simply wrong, wrong, wrong. And Peter Pan simply does not seem to be good franchise material anyway. Edited October 10, 2015 by grim22
dudalb
It would have done worse facing Ant-Man and the second week of Minions. Agreed, but, from how the film turned out, it would have bombed no matter when released.
Chewy
This is bombing just as hard as Fant4stic. Puts the hysteria around that one in perspective
