...and there are others. Also, both MTR and Horton opened on the weekend before Easter. A sub-50% increase on Saturday was very likely, though it could have at least been in the 30's.

Deadline has updated their Sat bump to 34% (http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/box-office-rio-2-captain-america-battle-for-no-1-oculus-runs-over-disappinting-draft-day/) . So looks in line with those 2 movies.

Last year The Croods opened the weekend before Easter and had a 68% Saturday jump

Jesus, they're actually using 'good weather' as an excuse now? Best tell all those blockbusters to move from summer then. I hear the weather's good around that period too.

Definitely surprised Cap isn't doing a little better. WOM is clearly there. Thor 2 doesn't strike me as a useful benchmark for its success since that movie's box office wasn't really impressive on any level, unless you count its last minute crawl to 200m.

Croods had a 63% rise actually. Anyway, my point is that a sub-50% can't be called unprecedented at all, especially since around Easter time small jumps are very frequent.

And the Croods opened on a different scenario, you have to look at the previous dailies to project a movie's multiplier. Escape from Planet Earth dropped 77% on the Monday before, while P&S and Lego fell just a little above 70%, which suggested that the % of students on Spring Break when Croods opened was lower.

I think "Heaven is for real" will surprise next weekend. It may challenge Transcendence, Rio 2 and Cap 2 for the #1 spot. Easter time + a faith based movie + based on "real events" + based on a bestseller seems to be a really good combination.

boring weekends until Godzilla, but that may disappoint too

Watching ASM2 disappoint and seeing some people meltdown will not be boring at all.  :D

Oh, and Godzilla will not disappoint.  :)

I have a feeling we are in for major meltdowns when Godzilla pulls a Star Trek into Darkness on us.

If it pulls a STID I will be sad.  :(

With that said, a gross around the same as STID would still be really good for Godzilla.

I think that most people would be thrilled if Godzilla did ST: ID numbers domestically.
