I hope Iger has the balls to fight them all the way. What se see going on in Florida is pure fascism. This isn't a thing. The Florida situation doesn't impede Disney's ability to run their parks in the same way Universal does. Republicans are trying to rebrand a shockingly dull affair as a political knockout. The reality isnt that interesting at all.

SpiderByte
Yeah the Florida thing is a purely symbolic victory. Nothing in the parks will change because of it. It's hard to stress enough that Disney World is all but literally a city.
SpiderByte
For a guy who's saying he's not planning on staying long term Iger sure has no issue making big moves. He really was not happy with Chapek at all.

Most of the stuff Iger’s “reversing” are either things he implemented, or things that would’ve changed regardless of who was CEO.

excel1
Iger was the single biggest driving force to streaming in the entire industry. No doubt they're better with D+than without it, but pretty clear the initial strategy isn't working as planned.
AJG
A terrifying thought about a potential writers strike is that Marvel will be rushing to stockpile scripts before the strike, and will release movies without proper reshoots because there's no writers available. If anyone remembers the last strike, this is how disasters like Quantum of Solace, Transformers 2, and Heroes Season 2 came about.

We averted another writers strike (barely) in 2017, wouldn't bet against the same thing ultimately happening here too.

I remember. I was reading that this strike does seem more likely though. We have studios actively trying to not pay people and reduce spend (and wiggle out of those expensive first-look deals they got themselves in), premade streaming shows ready for release, and an audience more open to watching foreign content which has been made far more accessible. No problem. They just need to do it. Until they can show us definitive proof that Disney+‘s growth or retraction has anything to do with films going on there after 6 weeks or 20 weeks, then I just see what they’re currently doing is throwing away millions on every feature they make. As with all the other streamers, it’s the shows that matter. Not the new movies being available quickly.

John Marston
Some rumblings coming out that The Mandalorian Season 3 ratings are seeing a sizable decline from Seasons 1 and 2. How the fuck is Disney + going to be sustainable in the future?

How the fuck is Disney + going to be sustainable in the future? The long-awaited new season’s first episode was less of a standout measured against other recent Disney+ releases. A gap of more than two years after the second season finale may have allowed some “Star Wars” fatigue to settle in. The episode outpaced the premieres of “Star Wars” spinoff “Andor” by nearly 50% in viewership, but still fell short of “Loki” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi’s” audience by double digits, trailing those launches by 35% and 28%, respectively. Meanwhile, the interconnected spin-off series “The Book of Boba Fett” barely edged out “The Mandalorian” by 2%.
