John Marston
400 mln OS with that opening is certainly doable it opened everywhere except China and Japan. 400m seems off the table.
picores
132M$ opening WW without China and Japan. Interstellar should be a long runner, so I think Inception gross isn't out of reach. Inception gross is absolutely out of the question.
peludo
What could we expect? let's say 175 DOM, 250 from current OS markets, 30 from Japan (the same than Gravity) and, let's be optimistic, 80-100 from China? So, somewhere between 500 and 550 WW. Edited November 9, 2014 by peludo

Olive
TMNT is heading to 500M WW(Japan is yet to open). If IS can't beat that shit, it would be really embarrassing.
Olive
Interstellar launched to a $132.25 million global day-and-date debut, opening acros 62 overseas markets with an $80 million total. The result is on par with Gravity, a good start considering Nolan's film does not carry a 3D surcharge. IMAX contributed $7.2 million from 206 screens for a per-screen average of $35k. The overseas haul should see a big bump next Wednesday with the film's Chinese debut. As of Sunday, Interstellar is leading the charge in key markets like South Korea ($14.1M), the UK ($8.4M), and Russia ($8.1M). Continental Europe is not far behind with France ($5M), Germany ($4.4M), and Italy ($3.6M) also posting strong showings. Mexico ($3.2M) and Brazil ($1.9M) are also proof of the film's success in key Latin American markets.

teardropmina
The result is on par with Gravity, a good start considering Nolan's film does not carry a 3D surcharge. does this mean the first patch OS release of Gravity? Gravity's OS release dates were quite varied, initial release not as wide as Interstellar.
IndustriousAngel
I can't talk about growing markets, but in Germany/Austria at least, after the way the opening weekend played out I'll be happy if it makes half of Inception's dollars. CJohn
It had a very good weekend over here. I hope it ends with half of Inception which would be a great result, since Inception was a freak of nature that had wonderful WOM combined with some huge Summer weekdays. CJohn
Interstellar is the 3rd biggest OW of the year here (4th if we add previews to TF4's OW).
redfirebird2008
500 WW seems the most probable spot. Paramount only getting the domestic cash ... They're gonna have to lean on those rights to Friday the 13th and South Park to break even on this deal. I don't understand why they would choose domestic instead of overseas for a sci-fi property. Maybe they were hoping for an Oscar contender, but that was always a long shot given Nolan's history and the history of sci-fi with the Academy. Here it was below Inception's 77000 tickets sold (Interstellar sold 58500 tickets) but waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy over Gravity's 30000 tickets sold on OW.
