I wonder what Sony is thinking. They marketed it like TDK or TA and it's performing like a B level superhero movie.

That WB is using Nolanites started a hate campaign against ASM2. The word of mouth of ASM2 among the GA is better than that of TDK.

This movie has taken down pretty much everyone's predictions at some point. Six months ago, most had it making less than both TASM2 and CA2 domestically (and definitely underestimated it overseas).

 

Last weekend, it fell short of the, admittedly, very optimistic predictions from a few people like myself. Even Xiayun thought it would open bigger.

 

Now, the drops are confusing on some level because there's been every indication that WOM is quite strong--especially for an X-Men movie--and it's not as if there are other summer blockbusters with good WOM to hinder it.

 

At some point (like, now), maybe we also have to entertain the notion that audiences are simply full up on big actioners right now. They've had four in less than two months... and summer's barely even started. This might be one of the side effects to a more spread-out release schedule with big hits outside the key seasons in the coming years, IMO.

 

I blame the weather.

I can't at all the meltdowns over the massive drop of DOFP. It's as if the whole world was corrupted or what.And I never thought I'd see the day that Spidey will struggle at 200M dom.
