The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies OS Thread | 700M OS passed

Recommended Posts

IMHO, it needs about $125m from China to reach the billion. As people have said, it has opened later than previous movies in some important markets like Spain or Italy, but it has already opened in Japan, when DOS was released in February. Let's hope a 33/66 ratio from now. We can asume 100 million more from US and 200 from current markets. That gives about 870-875 WW.

Domestically it can make 270m. But for OS to hit 730M it needs more than 200m from holdovers. Possible(WB could do some accounting magic here) but kind of tough. Either way it will be touch and go. china needs 700m rmb+ for sure. So we are setting big expectations. How is the competition there. It needs good screens count for 3 weeks at least to make that much.

What happens here, the movie is making a ton of money , it's already poised to do at last 900M +, I am a big fan of the LOTR trilogy and the hobbit and I consider this third one as a disappointement (too rushed , too CGI-ised , not emotional, ugly in colorimetry) : looks like a F... work in progress thing.

Smaug is a masterpiece by comparison.

Meh, i hate being dependent on one country for the $1b, especially if it's as fickle as China.

its actually good depending on China rn

At least its a 100% guaranteed increase over DoS

Not talking about a billion still but US+China increase from DoS can compensate some needed cash from decreases here & in some other countries due to exchange rates

speaking of

The Battle of the Five Armies will pass AUJ final gross on Sunday.

BOM for AUJ total gross in dollars - ~ 44 mil
