Wed Numbers from RTH (GOTG back on top)

Recommended Posts

It should pass DOFP tomorrow, TF4 sometime on Saturday and Cap/Lego over Labor Day weekend.

290M+ and 300M is definitely possible, if it drops under 35% this weekend.

It's 231m. My bad! It's rolling on. WOW. Biggest movie of summer and biggest of the year so far. Awesome!

GOTG's pattern, which while simultaneously gaining every week on it, is more frontloaded than Cap 2, indicates a 280m-285m finish. 300m looks unlikely now, IMO. Still amazing.

I had it at that going into last weekend.  Now I think it's going to go higher.

Going with last year's equivalent weekend which was The Wolverine's 5th weekend.  TW 5th weekend multiplier was 4.01.  GotG looks to be ending Thursday with about 234 and given a 15M weekend, using TW, it'll end up with about 294 which puts 300 within reach since I assume that GotG will hold better than TW.

OMG, just realised, that would mean it surpasses a certain other franchise movie => troll high time at IMDb and similar

I am still trying to analyse some 2014 numbers and have a question (related to the 22 - 24 day comparison)

How influential are those days for the BO?

Administrative Professionals Day

Arbor Day

Confederate Memorial Day

Not influential at all. The only meaningful holidays are the federal ones that everyone gets off (New Years, MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.)

There are some days that may have an effect, depending on the film (Good Friday), and of course the day after Thanksgiving and most of the days between Christmas and New Years are when people take time off.

Never heard of these 2. Don't they have an effect on box office?

O.K., thank you a lot. I have compared the 'big opener comparison list' with the USA and CAN holiday list and found for each movie spike a public holiday or similar

But I can't find a reason for the only (outside of Easter) spike CA 2 had at that weekend around 26/27 April. The spike seems rather big to me, hence my wondering....

Never heard of these 2. Don't they have an effect on box office?

Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day or Armistice Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I

edit: those April dates I mentioned are the 22 to 24th day of release of CA 2
