Wednesday Official: Interstellar 1.35M (1st time in a decade #1 movie is a limited release)

Recommended Posts

Rth was wrong. Official numbers are in. The resident cynics and "class clowns" of these forums now look like fools for jumping to conclusions and making jokes off of said conclusions .

"Official" numbers? You mean like the "official" number from Paramount earlier this year that said Transformers made $100m on the opening weekend even though we all know it came up a couple million short?

Regardless, the 1.4M for the day should be enough for Interstellar to be #1 for Wednesday.

The first time in a decade that a limited release will be #1 since Chicago.

These are still estimates. Also, there's a big difference here. Media outlets everywhere complained about the fudging. No one has said anything about fudging yet including RTH.

RTH simply posted he wasn't sure about estimates because of the theaters the movie is playing in.

Rth HIMSELF said the numbers were estimates that he wasn't sure of, yet the cynics here such as yourself took off with those numbers and ran with them as if they were gospel .

The pic collected $1.35M over the first two days, distributor Paramount reports this morning, re-adjusted from yesterday’s gross of $1.5M+ for Tuesday night/Wednesday day. That’s about $5,400 per screen and slightly less than the studio reported yesterday, prompting many to drop the three-day forecast from $55M-$60M to $52M-$55M.

LOL at this thread. 1.35 is decent. RTH did say he could be off due to the theaters something or another. But he also said that he didn't see how it would make it to 1.5m. He was correct on that front.

Let's not forget 80% of sales for Gravity OW was 3D.

And, Gravity didn't have any competition OW. But, let's also not forget Nolan's a much bigger name than Cuaron with TDK Trilogy and Inception to him. And, hate saying this, but Gravity received far less controversy and more consistent praise. Anecdotes mean nothing, but my brother, parents and a handful of friends no longer plan to "sit through a 3 hour movie," because the praise isn't overwhelming and they just saw Gravity last year.
