In fact, as big a Pixar fan as I am, I am actually giving IO the skip as the advertising has not appealed to me at all.

you're not a fan if you're skipping one of their movies. The stellar reviews should be enough to convince you, even if the advertising didn't appeal to you.

Just saying ;)

Yup, Mad Max had people go for the reviews even if the marketing didn't appeal to them. This should be the same.

The thing about Ant Man is... People can't even argue it was too tough of a sell to have a shrinking superhero.

Cause Guardians did $300m+ in U.S. with a talking raccoon and a tree.

So that argument is just invalid right away.

I feel like Guardians had a much better marketing push than Ant-man, but still nobody knew it was going to be a hit until it opened.

I think it all depends on whether Ant-man delivers in quality. If it's no better than the trailers make it seem, it might not make it to 200m.

If it's better, the Marvel brand will give it an opening push and WOM will take care of the rest.

Wow. Anyone doubting Minions getting over 300M is insane. It's not just trailer views. Everyone is talking about it and sharing it. It's everywhere. And all of those people are not kids, but teens and grown-ups. Also, anyone thinking Ant-Man will make over 200M is equally crazy. That will be lucky to make 175M.

This post is stupid.

A cute talking tree and a smartass raccoon isn't actually all that hard to sell.

A man who turns into an ant is incredibly difficult to sell and so far Marvel has failed.
