Wednesday Actuals: Jurassic World 9.44M | Inside Out 9.37M

Fox is doing a much better job with Maze Runner. They actually recognized that MR is not a top tier YA franchise but can make them good money on a controlled budget and corresponding marketing expense.

More Hunger Games movies is probably the stupidest idea they ever had, especially since none of the leads will return.

I was shocked by how little the budget was for The Maze Runner; how is it less expensive than 50 Shades? And three cheers for not splitting the last movie (I really hope they stick to that even if the second one has a New Moon sort of increase).

Maybe they are hoping for a Fantastic Beasts sort of thing with the extra HG movies. Though you would want to see how well the HP spinoffs actually perform before being sure that's such a good idea. And even there I think HP has more of a die-hard fanbase compared THG so it may not be the greatest basis for comparison.

First day under $10M for JW...what's the most days over $10M for a movie?

According to Fandango, the nation's leading digital destination for moviegoers and fans with more than 36 million unique visitors per month*, "Jurassic World," "Ted 2" (in its opening weekend) and "Inside Out" are all battling for the top position on this week's Fanticipation movie buzz indicator, with the three films ranking 90, 89 and 88 points out of 100 points, respectively.

The highly-anticipated sequel, "Ted 2," is currently outselling the first "Ted" at the same point in that movie's sales cycle on Fandango, representing Fandango's top-selling R-rated comedy of the year thus far. At the same time, "Jurassic" is positioned for a monstrous third weekend, while "Inside Out" is poised for Pixar's best-selling second weekend on Fandango.
