There is an outside chance that Max will outgross MM2, I suppose.

 

Channing Tatum's career has been quite spotty. Since 22 JS none of his 3 movies has grossed more than 50M.

Why isn't Trevorrow directing the sequel?

i still don't know why he got the gig in the first place. His first film is Safety Not Guaranteed, a low-budget, quirky, scifi romance. He probably wants to go back doing something like that.

JW per theater average compared to IO is quite impressive when you factor in that it's been playing longer than IO, plus it lost IMAX and screens this weekend.

 

This is exactly why I thought it couldn't make #1 again this week. The odds were definitely against it.
