Thankfully November looks strong.  I'm predicting

1.Mockingjay Part 2 - 150 / 375m DOM

2.The Good Dinosaur - 80m (105m 5 day) / 360m DOM

3.Spectre - 75m / 240m DOM

4.The Night Before - 30m / 145m DOM

5.Creed - 25m / 100m DOM

6.The Peanuts Movie - 20m / 90m DOM

Then December looks overall strong as well

1.Star Wars 7 - 215m / 770m

2.Joy - 25m / 145m

3.In the Heart of the Sea - 30m / 110m

4.Daddy's Home - 20m / 80m

5.Krampus - 25m / 70m

6.Sisters - 10m / 55m

7.Chipmunks - 7.5m / 35m

I think we all can agree that Episode 7 will destroy anything in its path though I think Daddy's Home may have a good chance to be a sleeper hit.

Paramount should open Daddy's during the summer season. This kind of comedy should do a nice Neighbor-like number

I thinkMarvel is pretty fanatic about their own property when they kill off FF in comic book. That rattled some people's nerves working on the project, maybe?

Some of them might think that Fox should just give up the property and return it to its rightful owner.....

Marvel has killed off every character at one time or another and they're already back in other comics.  Current comic story lines aren't affecting the MCU as Steve Rogers is looking 95 yrs old and so no longer Cap and Thor lost his power and Jane is now Thor who's dating Sam Wilson who's Captain America.

To put Jobs' shit performance in perspective, its wide release per screen average of $2,700 will be less than:

Sicario, The Intern, Everest, A Walk in the Woods, UNCLE, Fantastic Four, The Gift (wow), Ricki and the Flash, Vacation (ouch), Southpaw, Paper Towns...

ALOHA.

:ohmygod:

Gotta give credit to the holdovers. Goosebumps is going to comfortably surpass its budget off domestic and assuming its overseas holds up it should make a reasonable profit. BoS was showing legginess as early as Monday and an excellent multi seems likely.

Nine new or wide movies in the last two weeks and The Martian is still the only one that can be called four quadrant. Until Bond it will remain the best consensus pick if you're heading to the movies in a group.

Truly catastrophic for every opener.  I have no clue what the FUCK Lionsgate was thinking giving a 70 million budget to a film called 'the last witch hunter'.  Paranormal Activity is a ghost (pun intended) of its former self, but it'll be fine and in the end will put a few coins in the studios pocket.  Jem and Kasbah really don't even deserve discussion, the PTA are going to be insane.  This feels wayyyyy more like an early September week than a near end October week.

Spectre, save us.

Actually it was 90m, which makes it worse. Don't understand what the heads of Lionsgate were thinking, when they greenlit TLW. Diesel doesn't always = money.

Such a bland weekend....  Course next weekend won't be any better particularly with a killer of a day on Saturday.

And yeah, the mobile version sucks right now and I miss the "last post read" feature. I am sure it will be better once everything is completed though.

PAN's drop  Jem and Kasbah OD numbers   And Lionsgate released another monster bomb  Overall, I would say this weekend is a 10/10.

This is a truly depressing weekend. Not only are the numbers bad, there isn't anything legendary such as Jem under 500k weekend.

boxoffice.com estimates

01.15 M JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS

Is Jem possibly under $1,000,000 not interesting enough then?  Until Jem, Universal had avoided a place in the Top 10 "worst very wide opener" list.  And unlike the other members of that list like Oogieloves, Jem and the Holograms is a known brand.  That is what separates it from the others.  People knew about this movie before its release.
