Like I am seeing a 40% drop next weekend as well which would be 85-90+ million. Yup. That's my concern as well. Will be close to 50m tickets sold today. Few BBs reach that level. I still think we have a couple 30m weekdays (110 midweek)and a 100m weekend though. Puts it right at avatar.

Mango
Damn, what a huge weekend. SW with around $150 million, DH doing around $40 million, and some solid numbers all around. There have been a ton of tickets sold this Christmas.

hasanahmad
People are not realizing Star Wars is in unchared territory because no movie especially in December is performing like a summer movie. Few realize that in single days for a single movie this many people could sit in a theater for this. No one knows how Star Wars will perform will it collapse will it perform like avatar or titanic will be a normal trajectory ? No one knows becsuse these numbers are new and nothing like this has happened in December January time frame

Saw it with two other friends who had never before seen any star wars film and they liked it a lot too. One thing I'd particularly mention was that I felt the action was pretty good and thats a big thing for me since I rarely enjoy a film's action much.
The Panda
150m looks to be the floor for the weekend which is still a sub-40% drop with previews and a 22% drop without previews. That's a great a hold from a massive weekend, especially with 70m+ this weekend in new competition. We just built our expectations up too much. And still puts 100m for its third weekend in play Personally, I see Fri: 49.3m Sat: 59.7m (+21%) Sun: 50.7m (-15%) Weekend: 159.7m (-35.6% with previews) (-16.9% without previews) Edited December 26, 2015 by The Panda Menace

The per-theater average was $19,050. That's really really good. Tarantino does have a big fan-base.
