Seems like a lot of goalpost moving. She carries the Hunger Games films to massive commercial success well beyond expectations and even gets the critics on board and it is "just a franchise." She helps DOFP become one of the best comic book films of all time and it is just an ensemble. She is instrumental in making Silver Linings and American Hustle commercial and critical successes and it is all DOR. Even her Joy film did pretty well considering the reviews and subject matter (the budget was out of wack if the number is correct).  Also the business has changed. Maybe less star oriented. Still Roberts had her share of Mary Reillys with the successes. Roberts picked some smart commercial projects.

That's the only part of this post that's borderline absurd. The cast of the X-Men movies has become way too large for anyone to really take credit other than Hugh Jackman.

Allegiant decline is a bit worse than Insurgent. This thing is fucked domestically. 70m total is near 50% decline from a year ago. Brutal.

 

Deadpool, 10CL and London Has Fallen jumped 50% at minimum. Bigger increases overall than expected.

Lions Gate literally has no other franchises. I wouldn't be surprised if they go ahead with Ascendant and just slash the budget massively.

An observation:

 

Lorax faced The Hunger Games OW the following weekend, dropping 42%. Next weekend it dropped 40%+ too. Zootopia shouldnt have problem to better that. If it mimics The Lorax from this weekend Zoo would end with 292m.

 

So yeah, 300m will happen.

I don't think anyone will ever have a run like Julia Roberts did.  Those films were sold on her name alone.  JLaw is smart enough to pick good projects.  Does that make her a draw?  Sure it does.  She's not stupid enough to audition for Expendables 4 or Gods of Egypt.  She's savvy enough to pick projects that people want to see her in.  

JLaw has had the best start of any actress in history.  First lead oscar and 3 golden globes at an earlier age than Streep or JR and bigger box office at 25 years old or first 5 years active than either of them and viewed by more demos. She is ahead of Julia's 89-94 run. Julia  slowed down after 01.  Let's see how post HG plays out for the next few years. 

 

Hanks has the all time greatest 10 year run, 92-02.

Does anyone else think that YA films might be suffering because the sequels seem to be always released one year from another? People get tired.
