No Paul Walker effect behind it. OS would be a let down from Furious 7. For now I'm predicting below $1B OS total. Maybe around $850 - 900M

I think the last one owes its astronomical success to the death of Paul Walker, so we are bound to see a drop for The Fate of the Furious, whether ER is still as bad or it improves. $800M OS still seems possible though.

If it dropped 10-15% in attendance in China and another 10% due to exchange rate (might even be higher when it opens)  that could be a $90m deficit just there.

As for Italy, Furious 7 earned €18.7M. Maybe this one will stop at 14-15.

 

On the italian FB page, trailer has got at the moment 3.2M views, which is very big (more than every F7 trailer). As for Youtube, on the official italian channel views are at 300k for now, which is not too much, but I think everyone is watching it on FB.

Fast 5 did $416M OS & FF 6 did $550M. Like some said F7 is an outlier. I won't be surprised F8 "only" did $600M - $700M OS. Still humongous for a franchise that is basically a big-budget Jason Statham vehicle like, that's right, The Transporter. Ever wonder why they actually cast Statham in them?

Yeah, this is massively dropping for F7. Paul Walker's death is what made that movie so popular. I've seen it just because of that and I know a lot of people who did the same. So maybe around 700m.
