Ofc it's not just Marvel - Marvel is the grossest, most blatant representation of a much larger problem.

It's a violent, gory R rated film. It's not realistic to expect everyone giving attention to Jungle Book or Captain America to have otherwise given it to Green Room.

Estimates are actually same as AoU.  Don't know if it's all the same markets though.

For a movie that is "supposed" to increase dramatically over Ultron according to many people here, I'd say this was expected.

Let's see what the US brings next weekend. But at least this is good indication where movie will be heading.

Amazing start.

If I had a nickel every time Marvel was blamed for an entirely unrelated film bombing I'd be ever so slightly richer right now.

I don't think many people if not any have expressed the thought that it would do bigger than Ultron on the overseas market, knowing that the exchange rate is even worse than last year.

Bingo.   Deadline pointed out that Ultron's $946m take last year would be worth $893m in today's currency market.  About 5.5% less

The movie is performing exactly as it supposed to be. Amazing numbers, but not out of this world explosion numbers.

People are treating this like Avengers "2.5" or "part 3". It is supposed to go down, as this number suggests, at least on the estimates.

I just checked BOM. Avengers opened at 185.1 million overseas, Ultron at 201.2 million. So this one has a chance to increase on the actuals. But the thing is comparing all three, we need to know the exact markets to make a fare comparison.

By this, this one is heading to $160-$190 million in the US.

Serious question:

Who the hell are Key and Peele and why would I want to see a movie based on their names?

They have a sketch show on Comedy Central. Personally I don't think they're anything special.
