MAY 20-22: A Three-Way Race for Number 1?

We may have an interesting race for the top spot this coming weekend. What do all of you think?

 

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

+: Coming off of a $72m second weekend, even a 50% drop puts it in the high 30s

+: Without a big action tentpole this weekend, it could even better

-: Angry Bird and Neighbors 2 could swipe away kids and young adults, however.

 

THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE

+: Tracking and social media seem solid, thanks in part to the game's popularity

+: There hasn't been a major animated film since Zootopia

+: Reviews are so far decent, if not stellar

-: Could families be waiting for Alice 2 next weekend, or still be going to Civil War?

-: While not a SPA film per se, it may not get much farther than Cloudy with a Chance or Hotel Transylvania.

 

NEIGBORS 2: SORORITY RISING

+: The original had a very solid run, with a $50m opening and $150m finish

+: There hasn't been an incredibly strong R-rated comedy in a while.

-: The first film's reception was somewhat lukewarm.

-: With the emphasis less on Efron, could it lose an audience?

-: Chloe Moretz doesn't make for a sure-fire hit, but her presence could help marginally.

well it's not gonna be bad neighbours 2. it has bombed everywhere else, see no reason for it to get above 20M, whereas Angry Birds and Cap will both be above 30M.
