This is a joke, right?? Lol Harry has been the only name attached to the role and this news is trending number 1 and 2 worldwide right now. Yikes if this is legit and good luck to the actor who's cast. Disney had to have another option lined up either way.

They're probably gonna end up going with an unknown tbh. They already have one big name attached to this with McCarthy as Ursula so they can get away with relative newcomers for both Ariel and Eric.

 

Someone on HSX suggested the guy from Blinded by the Light who is both a POC and a Brit.

McCarthy is no Beyonce or Will Smith and Disney knows that which is why they were courting Harry. Seems obvious that they already saw Halle as a risk so they wanted someone else who could bring in the female demo who may not have been thrilled with her casting. Perhaps it will be an unknown but that clearly was not their preference.

Oh wow rumors are true for once. Good on him and Zendaya for passing on this fluff.  You don't make Disney remake after Nolan and Zendaya is proving her acting chops on Euphoria. Smart career move for both since they are already well known and this movie wouldn't make them more known anyway.
