Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children has all the making of a super franchise -- the call of destiny, the making of heroes and the embrace of kinship. Plus, of course, coming to terms with your inner freak.

There's a fullness of imagination and artistry here that's become increasingly rare in Burton's work.

Those are nice ones.

Anyway, it's at 61% with 28 reviews counted. Way too early to really tell, but I'm thinking it will end in the 50-60% range.

Made for $110 million (not counting marketing costs), the adventure fantasy book adaptation directed by Tim Burton is expected to open to roughly $30 million from 3,520 theaters. (With the studio set on a more conservative estimate in the mid 20s.)

63% at rotten tomatoes btw.

Its going to be hard for this to turn a profit with that budget, even if it overperforms OS. It may join the rare Burton theatrical money losers along with Ed Wood, Mars Attacks, Dark Shadows and (surorisingly) Big Fish.

AiW deserved Big Fish numbers. Big Fish deserved Alice numbers.

Actually you know what, I'm glad Big Fish wasn't a huge hit like that. The last thing I'd want would for it to be considered an "overrated movie."

I am either going to be very right or very wrong on this one.  I can't see it getting out of the teens but a lot of the industry tracking is in the $30m range.

Tracking has been off for a good while now. They need to find a more accurate system for predictions.

Despite the mixed reviews and terrible Burton track record lately, the sales coming in now look like the industry tracking might be correct for once.

Either that or it is extremely front loaded due to the teen book factor.
