Stop using Minions multiplier for Pets. It's like using a Friday the 13th multiplier for Shallows.

Yeah, the chances of SLOP going below a 3.3x multi are slim to none. It's an original animated film with no big new competition for the next month. WOM will have to suck to do a lower multi than that.

I was hoping for an increase for The Shallows but I'll take a China release for the good news of the day.

Is it getting a China release?

That would be the first horror film in ....forever?

Sony is apparently going through with releasing it now, since they couldn't get Ghostbusters past the censors. So it's taking its place.

There was whispers about it before, but a poster posted in its thread saying that Ghostbusters couldn't get past the censors so Sony is going through with The Shallows now.

The Boy also was released earlier this year.

We will see about the multiplier.  I do see evidence on the contrary of what I'm saying in Pets performance Saturday and Sunday.  But I'm waiting for weekdays and and 2nd weekend before I change my mind of it having a multiplier in the 3.0 range.  It very well could prove me wrong.  I'm going by similar audience, massive marketing campaign, possibly largest ever, front loading its performance and mediocre reviews and ratings.  I'm JUST giving my opinion based on those facts.  Could change in a week.

BTW, Baumer, do you have anything else except (condescending smart ass) in your delivery, or is that about as far as you can go with people who see things differently from you?

Oh well!!

I'm not being a smartass. I'm simply pointing out that this is an original property and as such there's no reason for it to be compared to Minions. How is that being a smartass?

The only big studio original animated movies I can find below a 3x multi are Corpse Bride, The Book of Life, and Titan A.E. Two of those are Halloween themed, the other was a highly unconventional film for the medium. Otherwise, The Good Dinosaur is the lowest with a 3.15x multi. Almost every single other original animated movie is over 3.3x. Granted this could play a little differently given it opened so incredibly high, but the other highest original OWs like Nemo, Incredibles, Up, Inside Out, Frozen, and Zootopia sure weren't strangers to great multis.

A- cinemascore and 80% RT are not mediocre ratings. Stronger Saturday and sunday performances are pointing to good WOM.

Pets started out good with the short film and the first 25 mins of the movie......then it went flat and uninjoyable. Most everyone I know feels the same way.

I'm seeing tomorrow with the family.  Kids REALLY want to see this and wife and I do to.  We're hoping better than Minions.  Kids were also dying to see that and my wife and I were bored out of our minds.

Looks like most people are enjoying this better than Minions.
