Does Batman The Killing Joke have a limited run?

^Great hold for Lights Out. Holy shit at the Killing Joke numbers, it had 1 showtime at most theaters and is basically a bonus run for WB since the primary means of revenue there is the Blu-Ray and VOD. Ghostbusters falls behind The Heat in its running total. The Star Trek hold is okay, not good not bad.

Okay. Pretty good number when thinking it only carries a 3,5 mill budget

yeah, both shows at my local theater were sold out so I went to one that was still very local, just not around the corner like my other one and that had a decent crowd too

edit - and looking at tonight's showings, they are almost all sold out except for the front row or two, as well

Controversy from Comic Con aside, they've been marketing The Killing Joke exceptionally.  I'm not even sure they realized quite what they had on their hands.  In retrospect it's pretty obv TKJ could have done a limited one week/weekend run and/or a roadshow leading up to the Blu-ray/DVD release.

All hail the power of HamillJoker and the deep deep love of The Killing Joke in the first place.

I'm in NJ

yeah I was really shocked how quickly the shows filled up when I first saw the tickets 2 weeks ago.  It's why I had the other theater as a backup plan which worked out very well :)

the event was cool as it wasn't just the film, it had a 5-10 minute intro by Mark Hamill and one of the special features from the blu ray after the movie was over.

I still have the original comic somewhere. One of my favorites

Dory's strong late legs are kicking in. It's very nearly even with Toy Story 3 today, which went on to make another $35 million after today. This would take Dory to $496 million. With strong late legs and a good Labour Day weekend push, Dory could still potentially make it to $500 million. Though perhaps unlikely, it still looks possible.

Peace,

Mike

My gosh Pets and Dory just slaying with these week over week holds.

How many days in a row is that now for a sub 40% drop for Dory.

495 is definitely still on the table which means so is 500 because no way Disney would pull it at 495.  Pets looking strong for 340-350.  Unbelievable for a non-Disney original.  Man I thought The Lego Movie was so much better than this and thought it had a great run but Pets is just straight killin it.

SLOP has once again fallen behind IO in daily grosses (4.2M vs 5M). I can't wait for the moment when the cume falls behind as well.

You should rejoice about Dory instead of spitting on SLOP. Follow my lead :

Killing Joke shows there's a market for DC (and Marvel) animated movies. I can't speak for other people but I would sit three hours in a theater and watch a Kingdom Come or World War Hulk animated film.
