My future rules when I have kids:

They can watch G and PG from the get go. At 6 I'll definitely let them watch stuff like the MCU and Star Wars, maybe earlier. Around 8-10 (or earlier) I'll allow most PG-13 and show them some light R rated stuff if they're interested. After learning about sex they can watch whatever they want. I'll be the cool dad B)

DOFP did well, like most X-Men movies, because it had the original cast.  Audiences don't  care nearly as much about the cast of First Class.

Good reviews no doubt helped as well.

oh. I thought you guys were mad about the adults decision, well if it's porn then that's disturbing and very nasty. But if it's an R-rated film that the kid saw a TV spot of it on tv or trailer on the computer, and they wanted to see the film like for example Deadpool then I would think about it  with my kids. But if a parent like myself(using an example right now I'm 19 years old and haven't made children yet) I would tell my kids alright you guys wanna go see a movie? If it was Don't Breathe I would let them know it's pretty scary and intense. are you sure you can handle it? If they say yes ok, but if not then I say alright. But I will never show a 6 year old something like Clerks II.

The adults decision I am mad about is them being socially unaware and shitting all over the experience for the other adults at the R rated movie.

If someone wants to let their kids watch Don't Breathe or Conjuring 2 or Deadpool or Fifty Shades, that is their decision but do it at home.  Leave the adult community space that is a theater during an R rated movie to the people it was intended for.

Correct.  I am talking about the 8 year olds at Kingsman and Deadpool,  the 10 year old out with drunken mommy watching Fifty Shades or the 2nd graders watching Sicario.  Those are only a few I have seen happen.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I wasn't aware that grown ass people can't enjoy their big grown up movies if a filthy pleb 10 year old is in the same theatre as them.

Oh wait, they can. This is one of those things that people frequenting message boards only worries about, isn't it?

My brother took me to see the South Park movie on opening night and I was just 10. Hopefully no one in the theatre was silently judging the backs of our heads and thinking of all the things they'd say on the 1999 versions of message boards about us.

Again, this isn't black and white thing and will always have exceptions.  Having a 10 year old at South Park movie is borderline, but more towards the line of who cares.

You are also wrong about this being a message board thing and it is something that is an issue overall, but way too many people don't use their brains or have common courtesy so it isn't surprising.

I'm sure there are some saucy comments on Geocities waiting to be unearthed.

If the kid behaves well, no problem. If it's a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum and ruining the movie for everyone else in the theater, then that is a big problem.

That's the rule for all movies to be honest

I seriously can't wait for all the Sausage Party reports

Most of the marketing has made sure to show that's it's an R rated movie with bleeped cussing, a Rated R stamp, and critic blurbs calling it a filthy R rated adventure. It's practically throwing it in our face. I think Sony's trying to make parents as aware as possible to prevent issues.

Expensive Piece of Crap No One Will Remember In Six Months Breaks Records

But Civil War only came out exactly three months ago today.

I kid. Really liked CW, though not quite as much as Winter Soldier.

*activates flame shield anyways*

Sony is doing something right for once but that won't stop some moronic parents.

Same thing with Deadpool and yet mother's were shocked at its contents.

It's not bad but Rated R is a very very wide range of content.

Something like Terminator 2 is relatively lax for example compared to something like the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I saw Terminator 2 when I was very young. But then I saw Robocop when I was 11 and you're god damn right I slept with the lights on

Keep in mind that I'm young still:

When I was like 12/13, I was seeing shit like This is the End, Neighbors, Gone Girl, 22/21 Jump Street, We're the Millers, Boyhood, Chef, Birdman, etc.

And I bet these mothers kept thinking what is the world coming to that a Superhero movie is so filthy I can't take my kids. Same thing will happen with Sausage Party. Of course the parents aren't going to blame themselves for I don't know not finding out more about the movie beyond the poster (which includes the rating and why it's received that rating).

Well I plan on having kids someday. But it just depends, everyone is raised differently. I wasn't allowed to see the Friday The 13th 2009 reboot because of sex and drug use when it came out when I was 12 years old, but was allowed to see Con Air when I was 9. I saw Dead Silence, Vacancy, and Knocked up in the theater with my mother & aunt when I was 10 years old. If your kid is able to handle it and be calm I approve.

Yep

I grew up with the original Friday the Thirteenth, Halloween, Conan the Barbarian, Alien and a number of other hard R movies. I grew up just fine lol

The use score for SS hasn't dropped from 74% on RT.

Well, BVS didn't drop for a few either days. Not saying Suicide Squad is as mixed received as that film, I'm just pointing that out.
