Looks like the openers went down from early estimates

Wait until Saturday matinees. That’s what folks are saying about the opening weekend results for 20th Century Fox/Chernin Entertainment’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children which are currently at an estimated $8.7M for Friday and $25.1M over three days.

Lionsgate/Summit/Participant Media’s Deepwater Horizon has everything working for it: an 81% fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating and an A- CinemaScore…but at $7M tonight and close to $20M hardly this weekend, many aren’t lining up for this Mark Wahlberg action thriller about the tragic Louisiana oil rig just yet. Deepwater Horizon’s gross cost is $156M, In the low $120M range after the $37.7 Louisiana tax credits.

Both openers opening way below tracking. Great hold for Storks, should make 80M by the end and well enough OS to make a good profit. Blair Witch out of the top 10. Suicide Squad should end around 326-327M.

Second week in a row where openers go below initial expectations. Guess people just aren't THAT interested in movies this season of the year, after all.

Oh well, still solid for Miss Peregrine anyway. Third 25M+ opener of the month, which is pretty cool to think about. Could've been fourth if Blair Witch hadn't been fucked over, though :(

Bring on The Girl On The Train, baby.
