The marketplace was starving for a movie that was 1) youth-skewing (the fall movies were all aimed at adults) and 2) felt like an event (which none of the fall movies did) so this number makes total sense. Still, huge.

Deadpool did 12.7m on its way to a holiday inflated 142m. Would've been 127m with a normal Sunday drop.

If Strange, being a new property, has the previews to weekend multiplier of Ant-Man and GOTG which were the last 2 new Marvel properties, it gets 78-83M this weekend.

 

Trolls did well in previews as well, possibly 45M or so most likely. Hacksaw might challenge 20M

Why would it have a multiplier similar to summer multipliers? TDW is the best comparison we have

Silly you, Ant-Man and GOTG were summer releases .

 

Thor 2 is the only real apt. comparison.  7.1M, into an 85M weekend.  The same multi as that means...

 

A 112M OPENING WEEKEND

 

It's probably not going that high, so let's say a Deadpool multi:

 

97M.  Even then, that midnight number multi was inflated since Deadpool has an adult audience, while Doctor Strange also has a teen/kids demo.

 

I think it's hitting 100M tbh.
