Really good hold for Doctor Strange. As we all know, a sub-50% drop for a blockbuster in this age is no easy feat. We'll see how it holds up against Fantastic Beasts, but it's in a pretty good spot right now as far as long-term prospects are concerned.

Also a really good hold for Trolls, whose first two weekends have mirrored those of Chicken Little eleven years ago. Moana will definitely affect it later in the month, but for now it looks good to at least finish close to the total of The Croods.

I'm really, really happy with that Arrival number. I was worried that it would dip below $20 million with that low theatre count, but it definitely found an audience this weekend. I'll be interested to see how it holds from here, given that there was probably a decent segment of the audience that was not expecting something so cerebral.

Hacksaw Ridge sees the first of what I'm sure will be many good holds. Who knew that a comparatively simple Mel Gibson war movie would trounce Ang Lee's more technologically-advanced, post-second-Oscar war film?

The Accountant has had a surprisingly durable run. There's definitely a disconnect between the weak critical reception and audience reactions.

I had no idea what Shut In was prior to the beginning of the weekend, so I guess it's performance isn't disastrous.

Moonlight is still expanding nicely.

Billy Lynn did well in its two locations. It's still completely screwed in wide release, but the alarm bells aren't sounding as they would be if it had fallen under 50 grand per location.

Excellent opening for Arrival, yay. Also a good opening for Almost Christmas.

Doctor Strange and Trolls had great holds. Ditto for Hacksaw Ridge and The Accountant.

Good expansions for Moonlight and Loving. Decent start for Billy Lynn although it's most certainly doomed when it goes wide next weekend.

$492M WW.

Thor 2 at this point? $480M.

If both are in the same markets then Thor 2 must have been doing better in  Europe and South America since DS has already far surpassed it in China ($55m) and SK ($21m)

Doctor Strange's 2nd week drop is the best hold for a Marvel movie since Iron man.

Really good hold but it's also the only one with a Holiday for a Friday in it's 2nd w/e.

Great hold for Dr. Strange and I don't think it will drop over 60% against FB next weekend even with the holiday boost it had this week. Thor 2 had much worse reception and Catching Fire's OW in its 3d weekend and dropped "just" 61%. Even if FB goes over expectations, it won't come close to the juggernaut that was CF.

I'm also pretty surprised with Accountant's run. The movie was fine but I think it would end up lost in the shuffle BO-wise without Affleck. He's become a bona fide A-lister during the last 5 years.

Amazing opening for Arrival and I wonder if it can stay flat or have a very slight drop (like 10%) if it adds 1000 theatres next week

THE ACCOUNTANT makes an estimated $4.57M weekend, down 22.1%, for $77.72M total through five weekends. #TheAccountant

If The Accountant made 4.57 million in it's 5th weekend which is more than Affleck's directorial venture The Town's 3.997 million at the same juncture during it's theatrical run and considering that both has almost identical theater counts at the same point, does it mean that The Accountant has a fair shot at 90 million+ at the moment???

Is there anyone who can answer this, Plz??

If TDW was at 480 million at the same point in 2013, DS ain't beating it by much. So WOM seems pretty even for both of them, right?

TDW opened bigger Dom & O/S.

DS was only close to TDW's O/S opening in local currency but not in $$'s because of the far less advantageous exchange rate compared to 2013.

Okay, thanks for the info. I apologize if I spammed the thread with unnecessary posts.
