Taylor
I loved Blackcoat's Daughter. It's a slow burner for sure, but I found it to be extremely unsettling.

I'm predicting a similar run to TBBM, $14m/$30m. Wouldn't a simulator run to TBBM be $13m/$22m? Mockingjay Raphael
With ACFW being (unfortunately) trashed by critics, Get Out has more space to explode in a big way, may be the next Split.
NoobSaibot
I was worried that this would be an other Verbinski flub. Unfortunately, it sounds just like a Verbinski flub...

Mockingjay Raphael
David Gordon Green has come on board to direct “Halloween” for Miramax with an Oct. 19, 2018, release date. Franchise originator John Carpenter made the announcement Thursday from his Facebook page. Gordon Green, whose credits include “Stronger,” “Our Brand Is Crisis” and “Pineapple Express” is teaming with Danny McBride to write the script. As previously announced, Carpenter will executive produce with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and horror specialist Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Gordon Green and McBride will also executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/david-gordon-green-direct-halloween-for-miramax-1201983506/
Mockingjay Raphael
This guy never made a Horror movie before, and he made this terrible Sandra Bullock movie, not sure if I'm happy with this.
Mockingjay Raphael
It opened in first place, as the original horror film doubled the opening for its main competition, action sequel xXx: Return of Xander Cage. It led in its second weekend too, experiencing one of the smallest second-weekend declines for any horror film in recent years, beating out two major new debuts. Now this weekend, Universal’s Split leads for an improbable third weekend — something virtually nobody could have predicted pre-release. Both of the top two films at the box office were horror releases. When was the last time this occurred? A Boxoffice Pro review finds that it doesn’t appear to have occurred at any other point this decade. Horror doesn’t even take first place for the weekend that often, but the times it’s happened in the past five years — including Don’t Breathe, The Conjuring 2, Ouija, Insidious Chapter 2, The Conjuring, The Purge, Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Paranormal Activity 4, and The Possession — didn’t see a fellow horror release taking the runner-up spot. http://pro.boxoffice.com/studio-weekend-estimates-split-leads-unlikely-third-straight-weekend-w-14-6m-rings-puts-ring-w-13-0m/

acab
David Gordon Green is such a strange but highly interesting choice to direct this. I'm excited about it. And Danny McBribe starring in the new Alien film and writing the new Halloween... A new horror icon is born.

All I know about him is that he directed Pineapple Express. I think it's interesting that a director and writer known for creating comedies were chosen to work on a horror property as prestigious as Halloween. But then again, Jordan Vogt-Roberts was known for his comedy stuff and he directed Kong: Skull Island. Who knows what John Carpenter saw in them? I guess we'll have to wait and see what's in store. Jake Gittes
DGG alternates between gorgeous rural-set indie dramas (George Washington, which is a masterpiece, All the Real Girls, Joe, Prince Avalanche, which are all very good) and commercial raunchy comedies. Him doing Halloween might be like when David Robert Mitchell went from The Myth of the American Sleepover to It Follows (which itself owes a huge debt to Halloween) turning those no-name American suburbs from a dreamy place into a constant source of vague threat. It could be inspired. On 09.02.2017 at 7:40 AM, Mockingjay Raphael said: OMG, this is going to be SO bad. Didn't watch the trailer but this played in Cannes last year and I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be a horror movie. It's an offbeat arthouse drama.
