Ethan Hunt
wait... we think Gyllenhaal is potentially getting in for that cruddy looking Boston marathon movie?

The category is pretty dead this year and it's been 12 years since his first nomination. It'll all depend on if Stronger can maintain buzz until the end of the year despite its low box office numbers.
filmlover
I saw Stronger tonight and Gyllenhaal is sssoooooo in. This is exactly the kind of performance where they're willing to overlook low box office numbers and an early release based entirely on the performance itself. The Panda
I didn't realize Stronger's reviews were that good, maybe Gyllenhaal has a chance
Valonqar
Wow, Jake Gyllenhal is begging for nomination in the most embarrassing way. he's emailed critics who haven't seen the movie begging them to see it. This is next level of thirst. Even Eddie and Melissa know where to stop but this guy...
Jake Gittes
DDL looks great as usual in the Phantom Thread trailer so he should be in unless the movie is somehow a total dud.
theresam
My guess is that Gary Oldman is going to win his first Oscar, and if so, it is well deserved!

I definitely expecting him to get a nomination, although I do not think he will win.

dxmatrixdt
how is Denzel looking for Roman J. Israel, Esq.? The tv spot I just glimpsed at made me feel like it has potential to be the years best performance.

Probably a Globe or SAG nomination at best.

Valonqar
I'm here for Franco Slayage. The role is magnificent.
WrathOfHan
How confident are we in Gary Oldman at the Globes? He's pretty vocal about his hatred towards the HFPA, and I'm sure they're not in any hurry to award him. I could see DDL winning there. Or Gylleenhaal cause he's literally kissing their asses as we speak. That said, is Franco shoe-in to win Comedy?

Because his biggest competitors are Nanjiani and maybe Kaluuya. That's literally it.
