I think Hoterl Artemis and Hereditary are presenting 2 extreme in the type of audience and pre-sales behavior or Hotel Artemis will have a spectacularly low Gringo type wide opening weekend.

It's a movie that probably would have done well at SWSX and that would have helped build some buzz and got the more enthusiastic reviews  out first.  It would have been cheaper than any added advertising.

Yeah, I didn't even know the movie existed until a few days ago. Can't imagine how clueless the casual GA must be. The fact that it's nearly rotten on RT really dings and chance of good awareness building. Looks like another worst wide OW incoming. Won't be shocked if it goes below Action Point's OW.

Yeah, the tracking seems unrealistically low. Would be unusual for such a wide horror release to tank that spectacularly these days. And even if audiences do hate it, the RT reception is a good thing for OD/OW if nothing else.
