You would expect a (decades old) franchise film like Predator to be more frontloaded. If that is the case, it is worrying that it can't easily beat ASF in presales.

The 7:00 XD and 7:40 showings for The Predator haven't moved anything since I posted about them hours ago. Being in 4,000+ theaters should prevent it from sinking too low but I wonder if it might struggle opening much higher than Predators did (just shy of $25M).

I mean it technically is going to be really front loaded if you compare its Fandango sales throughout the weekend

It would be interesting to see an AMC theater b/c I see this one as a subscription type movie (or a cheap ticket movie)...the Atom theater (with the $4 and $6 deals) is more than double the non-Atom one...I'm betting this will be more feast or famine than might be expected...

1. The Nun - 14.4%

2. The Predator - 12.9%

3. A Simple Favor - 11.9%

4. Crazy Rich Asians - 8.1%

5. White Boy Rick - 4.9%

 

ASF closer to The Predator indicates the latter will now have a sub-30m unless its walk-ups surge.

Final 7 PM sales at my theater:

 

The Predator: 36/78

A Simple Favor: 15/78

White Boy Rick: 10/78

Unbroken: 5/78

 

The Predator had an 8 PM show added, so I'll hold off on comps until that show starts. That show is currently at 11 tickets.

A Simple Favor is running under 50% of Game Night, Blockers, and The Spy Who Dumped Me, and it's only around 40% of Tag and Uncle Drew. These aren't strong sales, but I wouldn't read too much into my theater's sales for this based how it's doing on Pulse.

White Boy Rick is doing pretty poorly. All the comps I can think of (The Commuter, 12 Strong, Den of Thieves, Hostiles, Death Wish) indicate something in the mid-singles. Between this and ASF, I think I'll have to do some Friday comps to see if there's any improvement.

Unbroken is running under 50% of God's Not Dead 3 and God Bless the Broken Road. Predict carefully on this one.

Feels like the teens are where it's going.

58% of Mission: Impossible (35.5M)

94% of The Meg (42.8M)

102% of The Nun (54.7M)

 

Juding by Pulse action, Predator's severely overperforming at my theater. Maybe it's due to the black cast?

 

White Boy Rick comps:

110% of The Commuter (15.1M)

183% of 15:17 to Paris (23M)

149% of Death Wish (19.4M)

 

Also seems like an overperformer.

 

Also, for whatever reason WBR is getting the majority of showtimes this weekend. Four Thursday showtimes, then 8  on both Friday and Saturday, 5 on Sunday. By comparison, ASF and Preadtor are only getting 4. Kinda odd.

I don't have a comparison but you can type the individual movie name in the find feature and you can see how many tickets were sold during the last hour (for 24 hour period)
