7:00 Purge: 49/78

Uh damn, this is pretty big. The late show is selling extremely well too. I won't have any comps for this 🤔

Their smart media strategy (buying ads online targeting an elite audience of shrewd trendsetters) is really paying off.

Movietickets

Jurassic World - 28.1

Incredibles 2 - 26.2

Purge - 6.7

Sicario - 5.9

Uncle Drew - 5.3

Given that discount Tuesday night has started pretty much everywhere except the far west coast, these numbers could be rather telling for Purge. Sicario and Drew are no doubt going to increase from Monday, and from what it looks like Purge is going to sell well into the late evening. I wouldn't say 3M or more is out of the question.

Purge isn't getting the Tuesday Discount at my local theater. The price depends on the place.

I don’t believe discount Tuesday tickets accounts for Tuesday releases at a lot of theater chains.

I think DAJK meant discounts for Sicario and Uncle Drew, to try and predict Purge numbers.

Okay, no time to post a full screen write up, but I wanted to mention both of my local 12s are 3-screening Ant-Man, so for any insane folks, $150M is the max possible this weekend (using my # of screens at my locals X $50M cap)...it's good for those hoping for this to break $100M (although, you're gonna need more than just my locals to give screens to hit that hope:)...

I wasn't sure they were gonna 3 screen it, b/c it's not selling well Friday or late Thursday, but if I was a movie subscription pass holder (like Moviepass, Sinemia, and/or AMC), this seems like the type of movie I wouldn't prebuy for, and I'd just walk up...from the critics, it seems like it would be worth my time, but wouldn't shatter my world...and those are like the ideal for "I'll take a seat wherever and whenever I get one this weekend" free movie goers...

Didn't get to check the 7:05 showing, but this is what my theater looks like:

Purge 8:15: 59/108

Purge 10:00: 34/49

The 10 showing might get a sellout.

Update:

10pm showing has sold out to end the night.

The thing is, every single one of those are more Presales heavy than Ant Man and the Wasp will be

I believe it's for Thursday previews, not the weekend as a whole, so if it has the same presales:walk-ups as each of those it would be:

IW 8.3

BP 10.9

DP2 8.4

Solo 7.2

JW2 10.2

I think it's safe to say the presales:walk-ups will be more like JW and BP than it will be like Solo, DP and IW

Only tracking Preview Night numbers here, remember. ;)  After that, some of these films will have different Preview -> OW multipliers.  SW on one end of the extreme, JW 2 on the other.  Marvel, meanwhile, has historically had a very good preview to OW multiplier.  Just not as good as JW. ;)

Yeah, even the original Ant-Man was more previews heavy than the Jurassic World sequel. Ant-Man's share of its opening weekend from previews is 11.2% versus Fallen Kingdom's 10.3%. The Jurassic World series is showing itself to be very walk-up based (or less preview heavy, to be technical), even with its sequel, as you mention.

Peace,

Mike

Looking at some above numbers feel that Ant-Man is looking for a healthy debut in the high 70s/low 80s (77-83).  That with 2.75x multi gives 212-228 dom.
