Not really ,we have to compare these films to the modern day superhero movie and not the films when there was basically nothing else to watch at the movies.

Mos,BVS and JL are a trilogy  so the second film in the series making 205mil more than the previous film is a damn good increase.

Even if it does flop, it's not going to all of a sudden force Nolan to beg for jobs. Zack Snyder, Ridley Scott, and plenty of other directors put out numerous flops and still get a ton of work. Nolan is going to do whatever the hell he wants.

What? Explain Peter Jackson please.

Nolan wouldn't need to "Beg" for jobs, but if Dunkirk comes in below Interstellar, his next film will absolutely have to deliver or his days getting blank checks are over. Im sure he knows this.

Marvel has saturated their brand and poorly done their only previously A list hero (Spidey) while overusing their only new A list hero (Iron Man). At this point, Marvel movies are much closer to a TV series in season 8 or 9. There is a huge floor of die hard fans, but the ratings are always a bit down from it's season 3 or 4 peak. I doubt even Infinity Wars 2 or whatever they announce as Downey's last movie comes close 2012 size. It also does not help that the movies have lead nowhere and played serious moviegoers for suckers, i.e. people "die" and then return...Tony had drama with Pepper, who just disappears, etc.

I do, firmly, believe that audience members inherently like to be challenged while viewing a film. They like to have to think about it a little bit. They like feeling as if they have learned something by the time the film is over. Marvel obviously makes no attempt at this and hasn't for years, and it has cost them that portion of moviegoers.

Which MCU character died and then returned within the MCU?

I can remember a pretty big DCEU character dying and then returning (indication) within the same freaking movie though. So care to enlighten me?

And also i dont know about you but I and pretty much Everyone I know go to movies to be entertained not to sit in a lecture and pretend to learn something.

I've heard this ridiculous nonsense about DCEU movies being better than MCU by virtue of being dark and apparently exploring themes and shit. When all we got in BvS were philosophical ideas that lead no where and were abandoned by the third act do that the trio can fight big bad monster. Apparently MCU can explore anynumber of philosophical ideas but some levity in the movie automatically mean that the movie is for "kids" coz adults are not allowed to have fun and laugh.

The hypocrisy is palpable

I am pumped for Dunkirk.

I doubt the Batfleck movie happens if Justice League is less than popular. Affleck is old and aged, the role cost him his marriage, and it seems arguable as to whether he even wants to be involved anymore.

Affleck is the same age as bale. i don't think he's "aged"  and the rest is baseless gossip speculation

If you don't think WB will try to lure one more Bat film out of Nolan before the series is completely considered "done", you're crazy. TDK is still the most popular and influential film of the millennial generation. Nothing before or after has left such a pop culture footprint.

It's easy to see how they events could line up to make it a possibility.

This again.  Are you serious with this crap Affleck is not to old at all. If Affleck is to old what is Downey Jr then. And no TDK trilogy is done its time you wake up instead f still being stuck in 2012

Just got back from Wonda Woman. Gadot and Pine are great, and some of the fish out of water humor works. Other than that, the movie itself is pretty pedestrian. Definitely 15 minutes too long. Towards the end, I started to succumb to The Zone Out. I suspect WOM will be fine enough, but can't imagine it'll be blazing.

Fuck sake, I stumble into a weekend thread at page 63 and it's a DC vs Marvel argument.

I'm surprised it took this many pages to get here.

The Batman will be made either way if Affleck is involved or not as they've already signed Matt Reeves to direct. As much as I like Affleck they won't stop making Batman movies ever.

He got banned for accidentally telling a spoiler. Just because someone gives a low box office prediction for a DCEU movie means they're a hater.

Nolan can well go outside WB/DCEU and make a movie in big franchises of other studios if he has to do something less risky.

He can adapt a popular novel or smth, but he won't go back to Batman.

What about Jackson? He has nowhere near the power at WB that Nolan does. By the way, there is a hell of a big difference between reducing your budget/paycheck and groveling to work on a retread superhero project. Nolan will never need to do that.

Turns out it was record-breaking by a female director. Thanks, internet.
