Transformers Last Knight 5.5m in previews...WW 5.45 -37% from last Tuesday

Recommended Posts

Looking at The Numbers release schedule, I noticed some things BOM isn't marking:

Wish Upon is limited (though it'll probably go wide if 47 Meters did)

Wind River is going wide OW (thank god)

The only films going wide on August 25 are Polaroid and Cadaver

Stronger opens wide on September 23 while Friend Request is limited

LBJ opens wide on November 17

They still haven't updated some release changes like Villa Capri, Soultrean, and Let it Snow.

do you know if Paramount makes any money from the toys? AT least the ones directly based on the movie?

It depends they could get a cut only from those that use the movie imagery on the box.

If they do not receive anything from the toys (that is possible) that would reflect on how much Hasbro finance those movie and how much of the movie revenue goes to them, they are listed has a producer on all of them.

For example if 100% of the Toys revenue go to Hasbro alone, they probably finance the movie a lot and receive little from it, turning those 250m movie for Paramount into much cheaper movie from their point of view.

TF5 is collapsing in practically every overseas market so far. Good riddance.

I think the basic franchise idea pretty much had blown it's wad by the third film. Paramount tried to keep it going by adding plot gimmicks;it worked for 4 but seems to have failed here.

maybe they'll do that Transformers/GI Joe crossover next with The Rock and Wahlberg starring.

Wahlberg said he did quit the franchise, giving weight to Bay statement that it was is last.

There are only three major studios now.

Universal

Warner Bros

and the Mouse

Tho now that Lord and Miller left Han Solo I'm unsure about Disney's future.

what do you mean by losses? I think Tf5 will still likely make money

BUt how much?

A smart studio exec quits when he is ahead;he sees when all that can be gotten out of a franchise has been gotten, and you probably lose money on the next one. I think if TF5 underperforms the way it seems to be destined to, Paramount might well pull the plug.

Thanks for revealing you know nothing about the film industry.

Just a few years ago, people were writing Univerasal off as the studio that could do nothing right.

Ha! Michael "beta peasant" Bay tried to save face by moving to the 5-day and still failed bigly.

That's what he gets for taking a dump on the TF property for 10 years!

He only succeeded at jacking up everybody's top 7 OWs in the summer game.

Bastard. :sadben:

He's still going to make a ton of money off this movie, as will Paramount.

Paramount is going to build itself from the ground up.  They have Cloverfield, Leo, the Cruise missile, Top Gun 2, WWZ 2 with Fincher the God, Bruckheimer, and Abrams.  They're in the position Universal was in in like 2008 and they'll be out of it soon :).

Narniadis you're a parent?

Yup got 2 with a 3rd on the way. Theater going is an interesting experience. My 4yo is old enough to behave most of the time but a whole movie (which is only 1-2 a year) is still a lot.

Not the way the film  seems to be underperforming......

I know the idea that a Tranformers film will not be a big hit is hard to grasp but try.....

Doesn't Paramount have rights to South Park until like 2018?  Matt and Trey can pump out a 22 minute episode in a week, so they can easily fast track a movie and have it ready by June of next year at the latest.

Fincher the God?????

Last time I looked, as far as box office goes, Fincher record was very uneven.

Few people were saying they were well behaved when they were like 4 years old but I honestly can't remember squat from back then. You might not have been as good back then as you think you were, but who knows.

It really depends on what you consider a "major" studio.

There's this thing called subjectivity.

Thanks for playing though. :therethere:
