TF4 was partly set in China, this boosted that movie's performance in that part of the world. TF5 doesn't have that.

I don't think that's very relevant, Chinese market has shown a few times that setting in China (or include Chinese actors) does not necessarily lead to a box office boost.

TF5, despite the horrible reviews and early WOM, still opened bigger than TF4, it's the trajectory that's the problem.

47 Meters Down is going to have a 3x+ :jeb!:

It's doing amazing for a film that just one year ago was destined to go straight to DVD. Between this, Sharknado, The Shallows, and next year's Meg, sharks are the new "in" thing for the industry.

TF5 recovered a lot more than I think was expected from the last couple of days would you guys agree?

It at least avoided the embarrassment of having its 5-day total come below the opening day of Revenge of the Fallen eight years ago (but still sold less admissions so that's a bit of a wash) like it did just a few days ago. That said, there's nothing to be happy about regarding this opening; it's just a terrible fall for the franchise, and it's clear that if it's to continue, it'll need to go in a completely different direction with an entirely new creative team on board.

TF5 can reach about 700m worldwide. Over three times its budget. That s still pretty good and it shows this franchise is strong when it can drop massively from the previous film and still be very profitable. Still it's a good idea to shake things up for the next installment t

Is the official WW estimate 25.175 or 25.1?

25.1

2017/06/23 3 $7,350,000 +83% 3,933 $1,869   $300,555,158 22
2017/06/24 2    $10,000,000 +36% 3,933 $2,543   $310,555,158 23
2017/06/25   3 $7,750,000 -23% 3,933    $1,971   $318,305,158    24

Maybe Disney wanted C3 to go over so they used a 11% Sun drop which gave C3 25.175 weekend.

Agreed on the happiness part but it's still not a complete disaster esp when you throw in the OS take.

700 ww is tough China is looking at 230.

145 dom + 230 China = 375

Needs 325 OS-Ch for 700 ww. 275 OS-Ch is more like it.

Well, even if it got up there for Best Picture (and dare I even say Director), it would have ridiculous competition that it would've never gotten a chance to win.

Shia for Best Actor though......  Especially in the year where Daniel Day Lewis played Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood :rofl:

oscar will lose their prestigious in just one second
