Compare that to Waititi gif from Boy that AA posted and it only further proves my point. That beat had great heart but was dull as fuck and sorely lacking invention. The stylistic beats to accent it only served to dampen it.

But Valerian is a CBM :)

I have faith in Besson to deliver the action I'm looking for... Of course, Wright did so in a big way in Baby Driver. In a really, really big way. Dude brought immediate attention to what's missing in some of these mega budgets CBM with goddesses and superhumans. Raimi did it. Vaughn did it. Miller did it. Many other as well... That's action with verve that makes the imagination dance.

51M it's .... dang so close ....

Yeah...it is (we guessed the same number:)...

After blowing DM3 opening (but seeing its "summer kidness" kicking in this week, so all is not yet lost - $300M, here it comes - gonna stick with that, b/c you know I like to stick with my gut guesses:), it feels good to predict another summer blockbuster on the nose the next week...and to hopefully win a Casino bet that no one else took:)...Spidey, just get over $118M this weekend and we're all good, but the higher you go, the better!  $131M+ is the goal b/c that was my predict:)...

Dark Tower is not the Stephen King adaption that will brake out this year.

IT will float, but the question is will Dark Tower float too?

YOU'LL FLOAT TOO, YOU'LL FLOAT TOO, YOU'LL FLOAT TOO, YOU'LL FLOAT TOO

Hot take... The action beats in every superhero flick of '17 have been crap, totally deboid of invention. Onky standouts being the prison escape with Yondu, Rocket and Groot in Vol. 2 and the hotel sequence in Logan. What gives?

I think this year has proven that getting the character right trumps golly-gee-whiz action scenes.

Image result for wonder woman gif

This gif kind of makes me laugh though. The way Wonder Woman is running it's almost like something you'd see in a spoof.

No doubt. Always has, always will. But, guys like Raimi, Vaughn, Del Toro, Nolan, Bird and a few others have allowed us to have our cake and eat it too. As in, they've done both provide the winning heart and fantastic action beats.

I think Logan and (especially) Wonder Woman had pretty strong action.

Logan does at times. Wonder Woman's action felt like B or C reels from 300. Just bored the fuck out of me after the island. It was painfully obvious Jenkins didn't know how and, given her lack of experience directing action, likely didn't actually have a ton of input on the action beats. She will in the next one now that she's learned on the job and she and the movie's action will be better for it.
