Spidey doing great so far, Baby Driver with a great second weekend and then this upcoming weekend is Apes, which hopefully does at least decent numbers. An incredible run of great movies this summer either way. Guardians 2, Wonder Woman and now SMH, BD and Apes.

I'm not at all impressed with the weekend multiplier for Spider-Man. Really would have been a better sign if it had dropped 16 to 18% from Saturday to Sunday.

It's a massively front loaded film....huge rush to see it.

Yes the Spider-Man number is very good but I don't think one can ignore how front-loaded it was. It's not a sequel so I'm not going to ignore that. We'll see what the weekdays say.

But it is a sequel in a way.

I'm happier for you than me (since I'd rather have won by $118M Casino bet - dang, just less than $1M too low - back to 50/50 on my wins there:)...but I guess I'll use 500 likes/day to good effect (now I won't run out til 8pm Friday on weekends vs noon:)...not sure what to do with all the other perks, but I'm sure you all will tell me:)...

Thanks baumer for sponsoring an awesome contest!:)

Not a sequel?
SMH is Spidey 6 for the general audience.

It's still not a sequel any more than Batman Begins was a sequel to the Tim Burton movies. Was bvs a sequel to The Dark Knight movies because it had Batman starring in it?

Ignore? Yall are hammering "frontloaded, low multi" for at least 100 pages :stretcher:

Was Wonder Woman a sequel? She had a cameo appearance in BvS before her own film.

That makes a lot of sense.

Yes because nobody has ever talked about a comic book movie being front-loaded before. Why does it bother you that I talk about this one as well?

Batman Begins came out 10 years after the last horrible Batman film.  Homecoming is three years from the last horrible Spider-man.  And add to that Spiderman has Iron Man in it, so it's obviously going to have a massive up front rush for it.  I'm not sure why you are trying to make an argument that the IM was weak.  It performed closer to a Potter or Twilight than an original film.

Funny thing, if Baumer had made it OW, you would have definitely been way higher for sure. I am assuming you had a 130M+ OW with a 51M OD.

I'm not making an argument necessarily. I'm more so wondering how it's going to have these excellent legs some people are forecasting if it's already showing front loading like that. And make no mistake a 3.0+ multiplier for a 117 million opening are great legs.

Marvel Studios July/August releases...

Captain America First Avenger dropped 20.6% Saturday to Sunday - 2.72 OW/DOM multiplier

Guardians Vol. 1 dropped 17.8% Saturday to Sunday - 3.53 OW/DOM multiplier

Ant-Man dropped 22.4% Saturday to Sunday - 3.16 OW/DOM multiplier

Spider-man Homecoming dropped 21.2% Saturday to Sunday - ??? OW/DOM multiplier

...seems right in line with the Ant-Man and First Avenger dips from Saturday to Sunday in July. Seems fine to me.
