For someone in the middle of a war event their experience is the most immediate and important thing they have. I'm not over the moon about Dunkirk but if anything it honors people by focusing on that.

Dunkirk's OW will make it the second highest OW for a WWII film since Pearl Harbour. I'm more impressed how well Pearl Harbour did in 2001 with a bigger OW than Saving Private Ryan although a lower total.

Really good number for Dunkirk. Decent for GT and Valerian. 

 

Thinking Dunkirk can hit 50M+ for the weekend. Girls Trip should get to 20-25M. Valerian probably 15-20M.

Although I think walkups might've been strong for Valerian.  Its initial tracking was at like 1/4th of GITS, yet it came in only 100k behind it for Thursday night.  Bodes well.

Girls Trip is Bad Moms all over again. Huge pre-sales that makes people believe that it would explode in OW, just to be disappointed when it barely opens above $20m. Now watch it develops a 5.0x multiple. It's also worth mentioning that GT will be the first comedy success since... Bad Moms. Female comedies are saving a genre that used to be male oriented, that's funny.

I'm not looking forward to all of the box office reports from the trades this weekend about how Valerian is bombing.  If it does 20M (or even high teens), it's in good shape since it already made back the majority of its budget pre-release.

Val needs 11.76x for 20 ow. Similar to Apes. Val is not a sequel so could do that. I don't think the comic book is well known in USA so shouldn't be much front-loaded unless wom is divisive. 19-22 ow imo.

If DUNKIRK does under-45 after 5.5 previews, what are the chances that Get Out stays the biggest original of the year so far? Dunkirk would need nearly 3.9x (Interstellar did a bit more but in November) to go over Get Out.

-89% positive (67% were a definite recommend)

-Men under 25 and women under 25 gave the best scores; men under 25 represented 17% of the audience and gave it a 95%, while women under 25 represented 14% of the audience gave it a 94%

-Men over 25 were the largest demographic, making up 47% of the audience with an 88% positive score

-Women over 25 made up 22% of the audience with an 81% positive score

-47% bought tickets because they're interested in the subject of Dunkirk, 18% bought tickets because of reviews, 24% bought tickets cause of Nolan, while 16% said they went because of the cast
