Maybe Game of Thrones is having a bigger impact than we think.

Where was the impact last week though. Drops seemed to be around 25%. 26-27% the week before. This week, it seems closer to 30%

Who knows? Last year on the same Sunday, drops were around 20% for the Top 12 grossers.

Seems Like Dunkirk / WW is taking all the attention.. no one is talking about BD (this thing is quietly getting to $100M).

This is a beast ....

THANK YOU. We need more people celebrating the fact that a original, non-franchise action comedy directed by Edgar Wright (a great director beloved on the internet but with no real commercial success), with an apparently not great marketing campaign and no real starpower, just legs and wom, is powering to 100M+. That's awesome.

WW actual is 3.34

Eek, big overestimation by WB. Still sub-50%, which is good, and ultimately enough to fight off my fears of pure frontloadedness via Nolan fabase rush. Look, I would not be shocked if Game Of Thrones really did have an effect on night showings.

All that talk of going to Nolanites rushing to go see Dunkirrrrrrk this weekend to save us from the 'oblivion' of Emoji Movie.

We did our job.

And yet it was a colossal Hollywood box office disaster on Sunday. :sadben:

Wondy will REALLY need those double features with Annabelle 2 and that LABOR DAY WEEKEND expansion to not be embarrassment for WB!

Embarassment? The fuck you on? It still made over 3M almost 2 months after opening and is showing no real slowdown yet. It's gonna make it to 400M before Labor Day, maybe by next week or just before Annabelle opens. Stop with the hyperbole, son.

That Sunday drop for WW was pretty bad. Unless it recovers during the week, it will drop harder than usual during the weekend, right? I did not expect that. Hopefully, today sees a softer drop for all the movies. I don't know what happened. No matter what happens from here on out, looks like it will pass 400 mil and Spider-Man. A historic run indeed and the silver lining from the weekend is a big one- only a 28% drop.

Oh, come on, Wondy doesn't have a problem with run to 400 mln.

I'm really tired of your endless talking about it.

And this "smile" is absolutely idiotic here.

It's not bad for either films. WW is definitely getting to $400m, and Dunkirk is doing with all the other Nolan films do.

Is it not dropping a bit more harshly ?, dunkirk second weekend is smaller than Interstellar:

Dunkirk:    $26,611,130 / -47%

Interstellar: $28,307,626 /  -40.4%

Inception:   $42,725,012 /   -32%

Prestige:       $9,573,215 /   -35.3%

Just a bit of noise, release date or playing a bit more like a franchise, Interstellar audience was quite old ?

Interstellar had IMAX/70mm sneaks from Tuesday night to Thursday (not counted as part of OW), whereas Dunkirk had Thursday night included in the OW, skewing the comparison a bit. Dunkirk burned off additional demand during the weekdays as well. While Interstellar's hold is probably a bit better regardless, it's not significantly so when you consider those factors.

But, there's no doubt a movie like Inception was a WOM monster so Dunkirk was never going to compare there. And the Prestige is a lot different in scale considering Nolan's reputation since then

Don't ignore the weekdays. It grossed over $5m higher on weekdays than Interstellar.
