Pretty wild that Victoria & Abdul got so close to the top 10 in just 77 theaters when the reviews are only decent. I'd say Judi Dench is definitely a draw for a specific demographic.

Still pissed off at them for not showing Kingsman here in my town. Fuck them, seriously. And they chose mother! and Ninjago over it, for God's sake.

This was Ninjago's OW, speaking of which? HOOOOLY SHIT, not even fucking €100K, my God

Really? Did Lights Out bomb here in Portugal? Shame. Then again, you did tell me that horror doesn't usually overperform, but still.... considering the popularity of the short on YouTube, the WAN factor and the heavy marketing (well, in most of the world)..... aww, at least It and Annabelle 2 are both at nearly 1 million in receipts (HOLY SHIT), so WB/NL have nothing to cry about.

And also, DAAAMN at American Made's numbers. That's like 6x what American Assassin made  Is Tom Cruise really that much of a draw here in PT? And Hitman's Bodyguard nearing 1M too pleases me. Cars 3 more than 1M behind DM3 is hilarious. Baby Driver under 800K is depressing.

He was talking Portugal specifically.

Tom Cruise is literally Jesus here. He can't be stopped. His draw power is massive.

Yes, that was Ninjago's OW :hahaha:

Lights Out only had around 25 screens which isn't much. Horror movies never get many screens. Flatliners probably did because there is a lot of room for new openers and his trailer was attached with It and Annabelle 2.

DM3 was a beast here and still only did like 2/3s of Minions total here. Cars 3 was a big disappointment. Baby Driver sis incredibly well. Nothing to be depressed about.

I can see he is. If he had played Jesus instead of Diogo Morgado, The Bible/Son Of God would've been even more successful than it was :hahaha:

PITIFUL. Less than 100K OW for an animated movie is the shitpits. If The Lego Sequel underperforms, Lego is all but dead as a franchise at this point.

I know that BD's numbers aren't that bad, but I'm a needy person and I wanted 1M+ for it. That's all. Still did very well, BUT IT SHOULD'VE DONE MORE :sadben:

pro.bo on when bo this close previously

Quote

Monday Update: In the closest box office weekend in years, Kingsman: The Golden Circle barely edged out It to claim the crown for the second straight frame, with $16.93 million versus $16.90 million.

The top two films this weekend had a mere $33,123 between them, the closest since August 2000 when only $31,684 separated Hollow Man and Space Cowboys.

Adjusted for inflation, the record goes back even further: by that metric, it was the closest weekend since March 1993 when only about $12,800 in today’s dollars separated CB4 and Fire in the Sky.

The 0.20 percent difference between the ultimate and penultimate finisher at this weekend’s box office is the 4th-closest of all time.

The last time it was this close was in February 2011, with an 0.15 percent difference between Unknown and Gnomeo and Juliet. But the next-closest before that was all the way back in July 1994, with an 0.10 percent difference between Forrest Gump and The Lion King.

Do you think Sony will “push” Spidey over SM3? It’ll need about one million help

I don't think it will need help. All it needs is to keep theaters like GotG Vol. 1 and all the other Marvel Studios well received films released in similar time frames to Homecoming and will get there by the end of the year.

I'd like to know just why they've kept it in theaters for so long. Fear of Cookie Monster?
