Captain Craig
How close to $50m could BR2049 be going into it's second weekend? That Tuesday bump + a softer Wed drop would be crucial it seems. A 60% drop seems very likely. A best case scenario is probably 55% drop or thereabouts.

I don't think 55% drop is best scenario at all. Taken 2 dropped harder and it did have 56% drop. We likely won't know until Friday in my opinion. By the skin of its teeth, assuming it doesn't completely die with the massive theater drops coming up.

Looking at last year everything dropped, adult-skewing films less so, while family films dropped heavy. Best case scenario with greater the Tuesday jumps we've seen this year is stuff like 2049 will stay close to flat.

narniadis
Yeah, absolute best case today would be flat but I would hazard to guess BR2049 drops about -15% which seems to be the middle ground between Girl on the Train and the other Adult films from last year. The killer for BR is the running time - less showtimes and lower late night attendance. Regardless though thats a solid Monday number.

And Columbus day in the States - while not a nationally recognized holiday in the way that it used to be governmental offices are still closed and enough schools are out to make a difference. MrPink
Can't tell if Dunkirk has begun its official dollar theater run yet, curious if it can get to Interstellar, otherwise it falls a few hundred thousand short without some kind of Oscar re-release.
