As an Asian, trust me when I say that I lived through that, and at least in high school, it doesn't matter. Especially now that you're set to go to a specific college.

Why would he be upset? Or, as a follow-up, just mention, "dude, I know I was just being insecure, I never meant to get you bummed/pissed/upset".

 

But going back to the beginning: why would he be upset with a "is stuff cool between us?" This is not an uncommon thing to ask if a friend doesn't respond to a text for awhile, or if you don't see each other for awhile. 99% of the time it's not a big deal, so just clear it up quickly and move on. On the rare times when it is a big deal, it's better to deal with it then and there anyway.

Think this as a normal thing. I always look back on how stupid I was, and maybe in a few years will think same about present me. You are young, life will give you many chances for big, important things. Enjoy this small things and don't overthink.
