The Panda
Alright guys, welcome to BOT's Top 100 Movies of All-Time! It took a lot of time to score, so first here are some statistics! 61 lists in total were sent in and calculated! That is 14 more lists than the time we did this in 2016, which is actually quite a bit when you consider how much time it takes to make your own top 100 list! In total, 1588 movies were submitted for contention Out of the movies in the top 100, the mode score was 46, 9 different movies scored exactly 46 points (and movie 101 missed out by scoring only 45, that'll be revealed in time!) Outside of the top 4, most movies were only a point or two away from placing quite a bit higher on the list. Superhero movies both overperformed and underperformed compared to the 2016 list, does that mean the highest ranking superhero movie placed higher than last years, or does that mean there are movie superhero movies than 2016? We'll have to find out! The movie with least amount of votes was 9, then there were four movies with 10 votes, the movie with the most votes was 38 then there were 3 movies that had 36. In order to place highly, a movie ended up needing both passion and vote quantity. I did a rough calculation of the top 250 (and will be providing these 150 misses as we go), there was one franchise that managed to place every single one of its movies within the top 200. Some reminders of how scoring worked. A movie with more points ranked higher than one with less points, if points were tied I went with which movie had more votes, if votes were tied I went with which movie had more number 1 votes, then top 3 votes, then top 5 votes, etc. This system ensured that no movie tied with another movie. Here's the running list with the write up linked to each name! 1. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2. The Dark Knight 3. The Empire Strikes Back 4. Potter is already out, I presume it's bigger than a trilogy cause last time all the Toy Story movies comfortably made it into top 50, and every other franchise I can think of has movies that wouldn't be liked widely enough to place here. rukaio101
Throwing out some basic predictions for this list. Spoiler -Every Nolan movie will be ranked too high. Every. Single. One. - At least one 2017 movie will appear on the list that probably doesn't really deserve to be on there but is because it's popular and came out recently. My bet is on Logan and/or Blade Runner 2049. - ESB will win. ESB always wins. - Avatar will do better than people expect because it's fresh in everyones minds by virtue of certain other people never shutting the fuck up about it. Still probably won't crack the top 30. Plus, when it eventually lands, said anonymous people will spend the rest of the thread whinging and taking passive-aggressive cracks at all the other movies that topped it. -Most of the usual suspects will inevitably make it onto the list as always. LOTR, the top tier Pixars, a handful of Tarantino, Fincher, Spielberg, etc. Ironically, the chances of the actual 'The Usual Suspects' making it on are probably 50/50 in the face of the Spacey/Singer allegations. - I will eternally stan for Speed Racer in the hopes that it managed to darkhorse its way onto the list, only to be painfully but inevitably disappointed when it doesn't even crack the Top 150. - The 250-100 list will probably be more interesting than the actual Top 100. - Everyone will be disappointed. As usual. 6 2
