JJ is absolutely out of the running cause OS jumped off SW wagon. TLJ dropped 400M from TFA due to much lower opening weekends across the board and then some meh WOM. But the interest was way weaker meaning that they sampled TFA and decided it wasn't really for them.

 

Now, if Russos achieve 2 x 2B that's gonna be first ever 2 x first run 2B (Titanic got there with the re-release).

In non-multiplex news, American Animals is looking at a $104K weekend start from 4 theaters (for a $26K average) according to Deadline. That seems promising for a decent low-key run.

I still can't believe Deadpool 2 is going to miss $300M because of a damn flop. Like Solo really out here taking away PLF and IMAX screens and not doing a damn thing with them. Should have given them back to IW or DP2

It was never going to crack $1B WW especially without China. That's a wishful prediction but hey it's not any worse than some of the predictions I've seen the trades make for Solo so there's that!

it's still a better prediction then PRU's 300-500M in China alone! 

 

Speaking of Solo, how big Sat increase is it going to have for that 60M second weekend?

IMAX likely has a contract with Disney to show Solo for 3 weeks.

Loads of near empty IMAX screenings for the next couple of weeks...

DP2 wasn't exactly lighting the sky on fire with it's PLF & IMAX runs.

Do we know the exact budget? Wikipedia lists it at 250M, but it must be way more realistically. And adding the marketing costs on top of that budget means we coud maybe see losses of 100M+ for Disney.

I think it is 300 million budget less than 400 WW more than 200 million lost. It’s really impressive what Disney has done in just a few years
