Disney used to have their niche studio too but it just wasn't profitable at all, like most of these indie/arthouse divisions. That's the only worry I have about this acquisition.

Other than that, fun with X-Men and F4 Kevin! Please don't ruin Deadpool though.

They bought Miramax 60m and sold it 663m 17 year's later, that an excellent 15% ROI even if it would have made $0 over the year, there was great value in that library building they made with it.

Most indie/arthouse divisions that surived are profitable (otherwise they would have been closed), just not at an interesting level for Disney ROI wise

Disney isn't buying the Fox lot. That stays with New Fox. Disney will be leasing the Fox lot for I believe 5 years though.

That make sense, the movie division of Fox is probably death if the transaction goes on.

I think that's an optimistic line for Incredibles 2 and pessimistic for FK. Expect Jurassic to be closer to $150m and I2 to be closer to $75m.

You expect a near 60% drop for I2, and for JWFK to hit at the top of it’s early tracking when each tracking update has been lower than the last?

A Wednesday drop similar to that of FINDING DORY gives I2 $21.1M for Wednesday. We will see where it lands.

I hope we see it a bit higher 22.8m so that Thursday can still start with the number 2.

MoviePass’ Reaction To AMC’s New Ticket Sub Plan? Sour Grapes & Smack Talk

AMC and MoviePass have been at each other’s throats since last August when the latter rebooted its brand with a $9.95/a month unlimited ticket service. And today MoviePass had something to say about AMC’s new $19.95/a month movie ticket program, Stubs A-List, which gives its members three tickets a week to any film, in any format Imax, 3D, or Dolby at any time.

Last summer AMC looked into legally blocking MoviePass at their theaters, but couldn’t get around the Mastercard debit card loophole of it all. Meanwhile earlier this year, in an attempted shot across the bow, MoviePass refused to service some of AMC’s bigger metropolitan venues, a move which many in distribution say ticked off MoviePass’ own consumers, not necessarily the big chain. MoviePass later turned those big city theaters back on in its mobile app.

What's the tracking for JW: FK?

I think the numbers of the two will be close with JW: FK making a little bit higher.

Yes. It will be a fun weekend at the box office no matter what happens, though.
