Using Denzel to insult Mamma Mia! is the ultimate evil and something I'm sure Denzel would never approve

But who else could have such vitriol hate for the movie event of the year?

Gumby?

Speaking of which, where has he gone? Feels like we haven't heard from him ever since the "emaciated" Emma Stone conquered both the awards and the box office.

We're in need of an MRA troll. Gumby and Jonathan have been MIA 🤔

I will NOT see Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in theaters until I have seen basically every wide release that isn't Dog Days, A.X.L., and maybe The Darkest Minds (fuck that trailer). Translation: the probability of me seeing this shit in theaters is very very slim

Thank god. Your eyes are not worthy of seeing such elegance, beauty and grace on the big screen.

I thought the first season was absolutely fantastic but yes, dumb in ways.  The second season is good because I like spending time with the Lakewood 6, but my GOD it jumps the shark in pretty much every episode.

The first season played like a longer Scream movie and it was fine. The stupidity was cranked to 11 for the second season. How the fuck did they not guess who the killer was when the person who was the killer would show up literally SECONDS after the killer disappeared? Both seasons had predictable killers, but you could guess who the killer was pretty early on in the second season.

Edit: Oh and don't get me started on the extortion subplot in the first season.

Jonathan will be back in time for awards season when he gets all those screeners and proclaims that Boy Erased is the worst movie of the year. "How could he even want to kiss another dude after going through all of that?!"

Vote for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and help to spite the haters

Just for you, I didn't place it anywhere in my top 10 (well, it wouldn't have been in my top 10 anyway, but I generally don't participate in that thread). You're welcome! :D

I figured out the killer in the second one pretty early on, but they did a lot of good deception to throw you off, but it was still pretty obvious.  The first season I had no idea who it was until very late in the season.  But there were just too many things they asked you to ignore.  The killer would of had to be the most brilliant computer nerd to pull off some of the stuff he did.  I'm all for suspension of disbelief they took it a bit far imo.  And they really stretched it in the second season.  But over all I really enjoyed all of it.

Book Club has passed a 5X as of Sunday.  Might be one of the only good calls I made in the summer game (for the question about multipliers).

Those overseas numbers aren't very good for Skyscraper either.  It's opened in every market except China.

It seems to be doing really poorly here in Brazil and the rest of Latin America usually behave in line with us.

I believe Ben Affleck next two films are for Netflix too. I don't understand why they want to abandon the theatre. Netflix's quality is questionable

I think Netflix is becoming more attractive because they seem to be giving big budgets and creative freedom and also there's no box office numbers available for the press to mock or twist how they want in order to hurt your career.

I'm still waiting for Sony to dump it on VOD. Netflix and Amazon don't even want that shit.

Is it still on track to get a theatrical release? My boss said he hasn’t heard anything about it getting pulled

It's still on the schedule, but Sony wanted to sell it to a streaming service. Nobody wants it

Why is everyone afraid to call Ant Man 2 a flop?

Because it already made over 200m with all of those (many major) to open, first ant man bo in those marker:

Belgium (1.24m) 18 July 2018
France (13.3) 18 July 2018
Netherlands (1.85m) 18 July 2018
Germany (5.9m) 26 July 2018
Hungary 26 July 2018
UK (25.2) 3 August 2018
Ireland 3 August 2018
Poland (1.3) 3 August 2018
Italy (5.29) 14 August 2018
Portugal (0.8) 15 August 2018
Japan (9.67) 31 August 2018

And China (105m) still floating, but that 170m of market for the previous entry yet to open with and other 120m in legs there. It could get close to 600m with a 162m budget, how making more than making 3.5 time a big budget not a big success, let alone starting to call word like flop.....

Skyscraper is being allowed in during the China summer foreign movie blackout period. Could mean that its gonna have more blockbuster local releases to compete against.

They did it for a reason too, I would imagine local are less direct competition than Hollywood option are to each others.
