The point is that the biggest and loudest voices of the hate parade are Star Wars fans first.  Maybe they saw Looper, but I'd be willing to bet most of them haven't seen Brick or Brother's Bloom and certainly won't see Knives Out.

I followed SW fandom closely between TFA and TLJ and people were ready to love TLJ because of Rian. he said all the right things like that he was inspired by ___________(list of movies), that he found beauty in the Prequels (unlike JJ who used to take jabs at them). They worshipped Ozymandias. So there was no pre-conceived hate. Quite the contrary. They thought he'd save SW from JJ's recycle bin. They turned on him after seeing the movie, not before. They were in the tank before TLJ came out.
